Hi, so I have a 2002 3.4L prerunner Tacoma. So I believe my A340E is a kickdown cable, so would it be best to just buy a 2002 A340F? Would that literally be the exact same just 4x4? I’m ready for my 4x4 swap except for a transmission which I get further and further from confident about as I read more forums. If I have it to a transmission shop would it be a better idea if they just rebuild it and do the necessary part swaps for the a340f like mentioned above? Would almost all places know how to do that? Thanks.

2020 reply, but for a 2003 switching to mechanical everything - where does the vacuum occur from a non-add front diff to manual hubs? I have yet to understand this concept.

There is no vacuum hook up. Im you are talking about the same thing im thinking of some people either do the hose clamp mod or get a non add diff tube and swap it. You can set up the vacuum/electrical for the ADD actuator but too much trouble to set that up for most.

Manual hub systems, regardless of year, had no vacuum or electrical systems associated with it. On ADD trucks from 1995-2000, the ADD system was controlled with vacuum switching valves. From 2001-2004, the vacuum system for the ADD was eliminated and replaced with an electronic motor on the front differential.

Toyota really couldn’t make up their mind with all these configurations. Thanks for the clarity
