I ordered a filter for my 1995 Tacoma 2.7L 4x4 with the A340F trans. It was the wrong one. I only discovered this when I took the pan off. The actual filter is the one in the photo. When I looked at the AT filter for a 1994 Tacoma pickup, it matched the photo! No Internet sellers e.g. Amazon, eBay, Autozone, etc. could match this filter. I ordered the 1994 filter from J.C. Witney. Go figure.

The a340 has a bunch of possible filters. Toyota used them in everything. Even dodge has them. A340F in a 93 t100 has a different filter for 2x4 and 4x4.

Glad to know it is not some weird mix-up at the factory. My trans has over 160,000 miles and never had the pan off but had the fluid changed at 100,000 or so. There was almost no debris in there, the filter was clear. Very impressive piece of machinery. Doing a homemade flush and refilling with Toyota fluid. I love my Tacoma - the vehicle of choice for hang gliding and paragliding pilots.
