Aaand it's gone! (for now) Edit: New deal at Costco $23 per case

So, according to @TacoTuesday1's insight, Walmart is the place to go for much better deal!
$28 for a case of 6, which is $10 off regular price.

Not 100% sure about what this "Advanced Fuel Economy" stuff supposed to do for us, lol

Definitely a good deal. But I am amped I on the Kirkland signature last week for $22! I think the promotion ended yesterday.

Mobil 1 has historically been $23 at Wal-Mart, every day, for a long time.
With a rebate for $12 off per big jug.
    23-12=11.
That means you pay like $11.

But hey, if you prefer to drop $28 at Costco instead of $11 and then call that a deal somehow, you do you.

Thanks for info buddy! I don't have Walmart near me, so I wasn't aware of a sweet deal like that. I'll have to make it a point to swing by a Walmart if/when I see one.

besides the price difference is there any difference in using individual quart containers as opposed to the jug?

    yeah it wastes more time
instead of opening and pouring in a whole 5L jug, you have to crack open 5 containers and maybe peel a foil top.
At least on 2nd gen Tacoma with 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 taking around 5.5L or qt.
and have to carry a box of tiny jugs instead of just one with a big handle

Mobil used to not list WalMart as an authorized retailer. I wouldn't care.
I'd buy there anyway, then send in the receipt. And they'd pay me anyway.
I think now they might recognize it. But as I said, didn't matter, didn't care.

Used to be $12. Looks like now it might be $10.
You go to their Promotions section and find the one for buying oil. Not the crap where you get a "discount" for paying lots of money to a Jiffy Lube to strip your drain plug.
The one where you buy the oil yourself and install properly,
then mail or upload pic of receipt to them
then they (nowadays) mail a gift card
it used to be a paper check
either one still takes like up to a month, which is the drawback. To me it's not an issue. If I need to change my oil no matter what anyway, what difference does it make to wait a month for a $10 gift card to surprise me. I already got mine and spent it.

    https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/promotions/motor-oil-rebate-program-2020

Might do it again next time. For like the 7th time I've done it.
People on Rennlist claimed that M1 0w40 Euro Car Formula or something (M1 synthetic has many weights available) was thin like water and smoked in their Porsche engines, such as 996 or 997 chassis.

I buy it anyway. Why? Maybe I'm cheap
Did I love Motul in my last car? Sure. It was also $44 for a big jug. I don't feel like paying that now.
Last time I did that, I had a stash collected of it bought cheap for a deal. Then sold it when I sold that car. Because that took 5w40, and I had 5w40 Motul.
My Taco (2nd gen) calls for 5w30. I'm scared to use any other weight for fear it'd mess with VVT.
So yeah. I go to Wal-Mart when needed, to buy $23 M1. Then I do the rebate. Ends up like $10-14.
    Plus 90915-YZZD3 dealer filter (2nd gen 1GR-FE)

Last person I knew who bought oil at Costco was rich
he probably didn't know of other places
and if I was rich, maybe I'd buy oil at Costco too
and would probably be on a Ford Raptor forum

most of the time they run the rebate
    for up to 7 years
sometimes they stop for a month or something, a cessation of sorts
at which point, I might just wait to buy it
or chalk that up to random change and simply buy a different oil at that time
because rebate probably has an expiration date window (30 days?) for a receipt
like if it's not running and $23 is final price for M1 but same price for Castrol Edge
    maybe I'll buy Edge instead
but at the end of the day, it's probably splitting hairs
this oil vs. that oil is a whole different topic, and one that doesn't really matter
have ran many different oils before, and felt no difference

I’m headed to Walmart now to get oil; I’ve always run Mobil 1 synthetic in my taco but I can’t remember if it is 5w20 or 5w30 I use and of course totally forgot to check before I left home. Does the difference in weight matter that much?

^^^^...agreed, I like big jugs too but I much prefer tiny jugs if the big jugs happen to have one big handle on it:eek:.

But if your engine is broken in, it doesn’t want that weight oil.

    5W-30 for anything over 100k

I'd still rather buy the six quarts from Costco for 28 than a 5 quart jug for 24 plus the needed additional quart for seven. I don't mess around with rebates so to me Costco is the better option by far.
