Hello TW, I currently have a aluminum block and have done the leaf recall on my rear. I want to see how my taco will pull our camper. I'll sell my tow vehicle if it does. But that's not what this thread is about.
So my question is will I want to add-a-leaf and also install air bags for best/safest towing setup. Will the AAL replace the aluminum block? Thanks for the knowledge.

The bags should take care of your needs for towing. If you go this route definitely go for firestone ride rites, i have them on my truck and the quality is great. Also from what i understand, i believe bags are for use with stock height leaves so i dont think you would want to add a leaf as well unless you planned on pairing the bags with daystar cradles

I'll have to pair with cradles. I want to keep the same height I have now using the block. Thank you. I'll plan on running bags with cradles and ditching the Al block.

An AAL will help prevent axle wrap (take off shudder) when towing. The blocks promote axle wrap and take off shudder. Def. go with AAL and get rid of that block, especially for towing.

Should I get bags and AAL?

Yes, works perfect together. Ride rite makes a bracket that you will need to extend the inner bag support down to the axle as it won’t be long enough with the AAL thou (same issue with both the block and TSB spring)

Fox/OME/Icon lift. TRD Beadlocks. Toyo MT’s. Pelfreybilt, RCI, Mobtown armor.
I had the Icon AAL and later removed it and installed the OME Dakar's. I would highly recommend the full leaf pack replacement and not the AAL. The ride quality is so much better. However you said you wanted to keep the same ride height and a full leaf pack replacement like the OME Dakars will give you about a 2 1/2 inch rear lift. Just something to think about.

It's 1 3/8" thick. So is that my lift height? I've always wanted to get rid of that Al block since I've bought it. Now the wife gave me the okay to spend some money, it's coming off!

I've attached some pics to show ride height. And of block.
    Thanks again for the knowledge.

I like this idea of the full pack. I have a 1 3/8" block on rear and a RevTek spacer, 5100s on front. Could I adjust the front to match the rear with a full pack replacement with OME Dakars? Would I need too?

I recommend the Deaver 1.5" - 2" AAL from Headstrong Offroad. It gave me 1.5" rear lift, but I have a DCLB, so it may give you more. Keep in mind when you add Ride Rites it will add a little lift with the minimum air pressure of 5psi when unloaded. The lift will settle a little too after you get a few miles on.

If you start lifting the front more you will def. have to look at aftermarket UCA's to achieve alignment. I'd ditch those spacers and lift via the 5100's too.

I've been using bags as a lift for over a year and a half but really gets tiring rolling around at 70psi unloaded :).

Finally decided to throw in a Tuff Country AAL and it feels like stock in comparison.

Still need the bags for towing (but can keep the psi nice and low) and need that axle bracket extension as there is now a gap of about 5/8". I'm sure this will all bend to hell over time if I just leave it.

    I've found these:

They are not direct fit and will most likely need trimming.
Both are approx. CAD80 shipped to Canada, not cheap for two pieces of metal plate that you still have to modify.

Any, more economical ideas? If can source the right metal pretty sure I can cut these from scratch.

Update: Threw in some 'temporary' 3/8" hex bolts, will see how she holds.
