AAL Install - This look right?

So, I had a friend of a friend install a lift for me today and at certain points he seemed a little uncertain. Take a look at this wheelers AAL install and see if it looks right. I wanted the overload leaf left in.

If you can see towards the front of the leaf pack there is a little bracket that I think a break line or something mounts to. It was sort of overlapping with another bracket there and he wanted to cut it off but ended up just leaving it and they're sort of wedged against each other.

 

In the end, it seemed to turn out well. We got it done and it aligned properly and looks great. I'm just a little paranoid...

 

Anybody?

 

Is that keeper stationary or can it move fore and aft. I assume its riveted to the new mini pack? I would bend the bracket out a little so they are not rubbing or they will make noise since the spring will move and the overload wont.

 

I installed an AAL recently, and it looks just like mine.

 

I just did this exact same thing last weekend. It looks correct. As for the little bracket your talking about, I just took a crowbar and bent it out a little to avoid rubbing/shearing off the new bolt

 

Was the longer side of the AAL faced to the rear?

 

Now that you say that, it looks as of the shorter side is rearward. I'm thinking the pack clamp should be on the back side.

 

The way it's installed according to the picture you posted is the same way I have mine installed. I made sure to have the longer end facing the rear. So mine is the exact same as yours

 

I have the same AAL from wheelers too!
I did basically like he said, but used a pipe and bent the overload spring clamp out so it wouldn't rub. Just keep an eye on it. Mine moved a bit after hitting some trails.

 

I might be wrong, but I think it's installed backwards.
Think about it, would wheelers sell or design an AAL that would put one spring clamp on top of another which would cause rubbing, scraping or wear issues?

 

I'm wondering if the people who are saying it's installed wrong actually have this wheelers aal or if they have installed it? There are two other people in this thread other than myself who have confirmed that they have the aal installed and that it is installed the same as the OP posted.

OP, the aal is correctly installed. You shouldn't have anything to worry about as long as you bend the bracket out a little bit
