    DriverSound. It looks as if I may go ahead and add an extra stock leaf. I called Toyotas 1-800 # and they declined to help me with the TSB since its an 08 even though I am under mileage. Now, my question. Where can I buy an extra stock leaf spring since the AAL is not what I am looking for? It makes sense for all 4 leafs to share the load. Also, what length do I buy it?

    I wouldn't worry too much. If you install the AAL after hauling your loaded boat a few times it will sag just like the OEM 3 leaf pack you already have.

    Look in the for sale section, I'm sure somebody has their stock leafs just sitting around. You can even experiment with adding two leafs instead of one and see how that works out for you. Just use longer U-bolts. This way, you retain the stock height with greater load capacity though I think it would be a stiff ride but can't be any stiffer than a 1.5" AAL.

    Good Idea but I'll just add one more leaf to make it a 4 pack leaf spring. What I need to know is which leaf do I add to my 3 leaf set up? I assume that I won't add the overload leaf so will I add the middle one?

    Actually, just adding a leaf won't work without new retaining leaf clamps. There's one on each end. I'm thinking you want to do this the cheapest way possible that's why you're trying to stay from bags? There's a thread about how people got the Rear Leaf TSB done and hated it. I bet they wouldn't mind switching.

    You would have better luck trying to find a TSB leaf pack from someone who lifted and replaced theirs. If you want to tear down and add leafs into the existing leaf pack, search for member 4WD, he has torn apart old Ford leaf springs to build up a leaf pack. If you're comfortable working on your own vehicle, that would be one of the least expensive ways to add leafs into your existing leaf pack.

    OP, Not many have had luck with the 800 number. If you are close to a dealer. The TSB covers O8. I have an 11 and that was covered. Works best to go to your service dept. I will try and find the TSB for the 08.

    I was at a Toyota dealership (Lehman Toyota) & they are the ones that told me to call the 800 number. This is Miami, not a lot of people go the extra mile for anyone. I even told them that I would settle for the leaf spring upgrade only if thats all they could do.

    Iwent to Bud's Auto in Miami & for $150 he can get me two leaf springs (the same length & width as the middle leaf (in my 3 pack) but it won't have the rubber pads. What do you think? I can always order the rubber pads and drill the holes in the leaf for them. I will have them installed in my shop where I work so I won't have to pay for labor too much. He said he has done this for thousands of trucks in his 32 years working there & never had any issues. He says the extra leaf will fit in the current clamp (most likely).

    As for bags (yes it's the money also) but mostly I don't trust them. If I got a free set I would turn around & sell them. I don't criticize anyone who has them but they are not for me.

    $150?! Some people here are giving away their stock leafs for free! If you're willing to pay that much, Timbrens are your best option. Installation is super easy. Don't be afraid of the leaf springs, they are so much easier to work on than the springs and struts.

    Hello (again),

    First of all, I want to thank ALL OF YOU for taking the time to steer this noob in the right direction! Also, I apologize to those of you who recommended Timbren's for my '08. When I first saw that word (Timbren) I thought it was another air bag & I didn't look into it further.

    After reading SO MANY POSITIVE posts on this item I decided to see what the hell all the hype was about. WOW! It's almost as if Timbren had me in mind when they created this. That is EXACTLY what I want!

    MAINTAIN stock height when empty.

    LITTLE effect on ride when empty.

    DRASTICALLY reduce rear end drop when towing.

    No air lines.

    No removing, modding, & reinstalling springs.

    I know for some people those are fun projects & I respect & admire the great custom work that I have seen here but for a guy like me, the Timbren's will do.:D:D

    It looks like I will be ordering these this week!
