Use a truck as a truck? Dakars

If you don't, get them anyway since you'll need new leaf packs next year regardless.

Because an AAL is a cheap bandaid solution for low quality OEM leafs.

Trust me. If you can afford them now then get them. If you can't then buy a cheap single leaf AAL and save to buy them next year.

DAKARS. i did the aal route, and had to upgrade within 12mo or so... just sagged like a mofo with the stock and an aal

wish i did dakars the first time instead of an aal. but now i'm good! :D

Don't the Dakars ride really stiff with no weight in the bed?

Is your truck part of the leaf pack recall? If so, new OEM leaf pack and AAL will do it as longas you don't leave a lot of weight behind you. Otherwise just go with Dakars.

    Some say so, some don't.

    enough to have fun
Mine don't at all. I think the ride is much better than stock and I usually have nothing but my bike or bestop in/on the bed. For reference I have OME nitro rear shocks too.

OP I was thinking about saving money and going AAL, but you might as well do it right the first time.

Dakars are a big improvement over stock in both design and performance. I installed them on my current truck and my last one and have no regrets. The military wrap is a great feature too--I didn't realize how much spring wrap I was getting until I installed the Dakars. They handle loads great and ride smooth. They are a true TRUCK spring that doesn't make you wish for a kidney belt or suspension seat  If you can afford it, get the Dakars.

Not in my experience. I had them with an empty bed for a bit, and I felt bumps a little bit more but not a lot. More than anything the truck just felt more stable and cornered better. It accelerated better too, especially when I did load up the bed. You can take a leaf out if you want a softer ride, but with a double cab like in the OP's profile pic, I think the full leaf pack would feel pretty good.

Did the AAL with no weight in the bed. Got a cap, built a bed platform...hated the stance. Got the leaf pack warranty and the AAL re-installed. Still hated the stance.

Got Dakars installed over the weekend (with new tires). Like the stance, but haven't driven it enough to comment on ride quality. I should know better after this weekend when I go boating.

I can tell you that with more weight that is permanent, the AAL was not doing what I wanted it to do. Based on what I have heard, the Dakars should work for my purpose, but I can't really comment since I haven't driven it all that much yet.

Dakar's for sure! And if you carry a heavy load like me (armor, loaded tool box, rtt) then Dakar's WITH add a leaf.

Get new leafpack if you can. I did the AAL for a bit, now have Allpro expo pack. stiffer than dakars, and I dont have a lot of weight, and it rides fine.

Dakar's FTW. Stock leaves are crap. Sag and won't hold any weight. Buy once and be done with it.
