I'm sure glad my dealer is either ignoring or had not received the memo from Toyota because I would be driving another type of vehicle. The $1400 fuel pump and actuator arm was replaced a couple of months ago and remains silent. Best wishes.

It's such a bummer that Toyota recognizes the issue... But told me it was "characteristic" to the truck. I did change fuel recently and haven't had the noise since, but would still like this issue addressed.

I found a gas station not too far from where I live that sells non-ethanol fuel. Filled her up and what do you know, the sound is gone. o_O I agree with NorCalTommy, it's so annoying Toyota recognizes but won't do anything at the moment to fix it. Maybe it's just my imagination but I feel like the truck runs nicely on non-ethanol? I dunno. Needless to say, the crickets under the hood are gone.

Curious what Brand gas you guys are running? I started going to the Shell station after running 76 in everything for years. 76 = Crickets under my hood, Shell = No crickets. I don't get it.

Ok so I got my Fuel pump replaced and the chirp started back again at around 500 miles but I saw that guys who had the cam actuators replaced at the same time seem to be the ones who have the chirp fixed. Does any one have the paperwork showing the part for the Cam Actuator?

    My parts replaced are

    Pump Sub Assy, Fuel
    Gasket, Fuel Pump SP
    Guide, Fuel Pump LIF

I run ethanol free and have no crickets, if that's any consolation.

I had the crickets with Chevron earlier in the year (March through August or so?), always fill up with Chevron, and for the past few months I haven't had the crickets at all. Same gas station too.

Just took my truck in yesterday for the infamous chirp. Sure as shit they told me the chirp was a normal characteristic to the truck and there is nothing to remedy the situation. My service advisor suggested that I should try filling up with shell 91, which I informed I have been doing since my first fill up. So glad the only recommendation they have to help remedy this god awful sound is to put the same gas in my truck that I have been since day one. Makes me so happy I spent this much on a truck... not!

Did you ask your "service advisor" if HE/SHE are going to pay the difference on the price of gas of which THEY say you SHOULD put in the truck vs. what TOYOTA say is required for the truck???

Son of a bitch...mine started doing this 2 weeks ago. I'm currently at 9k miles so I figured I'll wait until 10k mile service. I noticed it as I was backing into my garage at home and it echoed pretty loud. I popped the hood and took a listen and it was emitting from the passenger side. Then I come across this thread with the YouTube videos showing exactly what I'm hearing. :annoyed:

Let us know what Longo tells you!

It's not normal and not all Tacoma's have chirping fuel pumps. It appears the dealers received internal direction from Toyota to no longer replace these pumps unless they fail and it appears to be verified from reading some threads on TW. After reading a thread by TacoFister and his help, I had my pump replaced at 1800 miles with no issues by dealer and it's still silent at 3600. Best wishes

Great video! $1400 quoted by my dealer if a customer had to pay to remove and replace that little HPFP.

    @TacoFister and @Mag16tac,

I'm sure you both are very satisfied with your HPFP replacement.
This chirp is driving me nuts and i'd be extremely embittered if the HPFP issue wasn't resolved this weekend. May you guys provide insight towards your HPFP replacement?

They denied me the service, said it was normal. To me they say it's normal so they don't have to do paperwork or wait for Toyota to pay them. So their not making money, and sending people on their way. Scamming innocent people.
