So I have been wanting a Tacoma for a while and I might be getting one on Sunday but the only thing holding me back is the possibility of Oil going up big time by 2015. I have seen a few different forecasts. If gas goes up to $6/gallon I will be fine but going beyond $8 and more that's when I would have a problem. Has anybody here heard from reliable sources what the predictions could be up to the year 2015???

Mostly stock for now, I have added a cb radio, various cheap mods and I plan on adding aftermarket wheels and other items in the future.
If the economy kicks back into gear in a big way, you'll see a rise is price per gallon.

It should stay about the same for the next few years, maybe a slight increase. If the market is still slow by 2015, it should be about the same in price. But no one really knows what it will be in 2015. It's too far ahead in time to really know.
The best thing you can do is to figure out the best way to drive your truck to save on gas. If you're that worried about the price of gas and money, you may want to buy a more fuel efficient vehicle, possible used too.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see it was your first post, welcome to TW.com!

Sounds like good information. I read an article that forecasted sky high prices. I guess it could go either way depending on the economy and demand around the world and of course the supply.

Now if we could get Alaska to give it up :D

Well it depends on the article, some articles can and will give out information that's not true, or even push or nudge a political view or message onto you- scare tactics.

The truth is that the people that wrote that have absolutely no idea what the price will be, or even the state of the economy in 2015. I have no idea either; hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Could you tell me what article this is? Would like to read it, may know something I don't. lol :goingcrazy:

    Let's make this simple:

Gas prices will always rise. The only question is how quickly.

Buying a fully depreciated Hondota 4-dinger with a solid maintenance history to use as a DD has never made more sense.

Geez...I was considering a used Tacoma but a dealer offered me a price of $27500 for a 2010 DC 4x4 Trd w/JBL audio...pretty much loaded. The used Tacomas I was looking at were around 20,500-24000 some of them certified. A $3500 difference for certified and NEW....hummmm...I think I would rather have the new.

    .

If gas goes to $6.00 a gallon in the US in the next 5 years, we are all in trouble.

IMO, there could be a lot of people wanting to dump their larger pickups
for smaller pickups and the Tacomas could still hold their value.

Why? Our mileage isn't that much better. I think you're much more likely to see what happened when gas hit $5 a gallon 2 years ago...people dumping large vehicles altogether and telling the kids to suck it up and squeeze into a Civic's back seat with the dog.

If gas spikes, our problems have nothing to do with the civilian motoring fleet. WORK fleets will have their costs rise, diesel or not, and THAT in turn makes the cost of all the services they provide and products they ship (UPS and FedEx anyone?) go up...which means standard of living drops for all of us and our economy slows yet more.

Face it...the Brown People in the middle east that Fox is so fond of scaring Tea Partier idiots with right now has us by the balls...if they stop selling us the shit, we're done as a superpower.

There is so much untapped oil still... I'm not even going to try and predict what will happen. Right now, I'm going to just enjoy the truck, drive what I want. Kinda like when I bought my house, if I knew it would be $100,000+ upside down 3 years later I wouldn't have bought it. You play the game, sometimes you win.... sometimes you lose.

Where???? Depends on what/where you read we will be reaching peak oil shortly or have already surpassed it. With China and India increasing their usage and the US so against rail/rapid mass transit I doubt that there will be huge oil field finds to accommodate the increasing demands. When governments are vying (sp?) for deep, deep, deep sea exploration under the arctic snow cap then you know that we're reaching the end of our known supply (I believe Russia has planted a flag below the ice in the Northern Atlantic claiming that area because of suspected oil reserves).

WY, CO and the other states in that area are now allowing fragging for oil - which is basically a crap shoot since they dont know how much oil they can actually get out of the shale. May not even be financially feasible given the current cost of oil.

That being said, I'll enjoy what I have and change as new technology comes out. :D

I'm not a big supporter of the Tea Party, but there is no need to call them idiots, and no need for gibberish.

    Keep it civil, thanks.
