I had a flat this morning, and while putting the spare on compared the old to the spare. The tires on the truck have 38k miles, and have been rotated every 5k miles.

About how much life do you think the old tires have left based on this photo? I am guessing they will need replaced around 45k, but might be a little generous in that estimate.

The screw will give it nice traction. Much better than the rubber would.

This seems like a Friday post.

Take the screw out of the old one and put it in the spare, then remove it and measure the difference.

Enough left to pay $20-40 for the shop to do a proper patch. Or plug it yourself, and keep an eye on it, especially since you're one of the last mohicans that can actually change a tire.
Sorry, I just changed my own oil, and rotated my tires last night, so I'm feeling a lil cocky.

I am at Discount Tire. There is 8/32" of tread left on all 4 tires. He said they came with 12/32", and they suggest replacing at 4/32". He said they should go a least another 30k miles. I doubt I'll wait that long. 55k is likely, maybe 60 at most.

They are fixing the flat, putting it back on, putting the spare back under the bed, and rotating the tires. For free. Crazy but I will continue to buy tires from them.
