? about my "new" 08

I picked up a certified pre owned 08 dcab PreRunner SR5 yesterday, and have a question about the climate controls. I ran defrost this morning (with ac compressor), and couldn't get the recirculate to activate. The dealership is telling me that the recirculation mode can only be used in AC, and not while using defrost. In my 04, I could recirculate air while in defrost. Stumped................

 

Yep. The dealer is correct

 

This is not quite right. I'm pretty sure it works even if the AC is off. After all think dusty roads. It's in the manual. It does turn off though if you select defrost.

 

Can recirculate vents with a/c off

 

you CAN recirculate with a/c off, but you CANNOT recirculate with it in the defrost setting, im thinking that the recirculation draws air from the defrost vents...

 

I will check with my 2010 later. I know that my AC acts weird when in defrost mode. Also if I put it in the hottest setting I know it turns something off, which I thing is the recirculation mode, I can't remember now.

I know that he AC acts different than other cars that I have owned.
