Not sure if the rancher has one or not. It says it has optional recoil

Love Honda and have been riding them since I was 9 (started with a 90--which I still runs by the way after almost 20 years). They're reliable and tough. Later on in life, I got a 2002 Recon ES (the red one in the pic) and beat the snot out of that thing (got water in the air filter--cleaned it out and it ran like a champ). Also had a 2008 Rancher 420 4x4 with the Fuel Injection and the the foot pedal. I sold both of them because I needed some fast cash, but never had any issue with any of them. I say you're making a smart move.

Couldn't you hook up a Battery Tender to your battery.

It seemed like every time my son wanted to ride his the battery was dead. So I put one on his & it starts up fine now.

That sounds like a good idea. Might have to look into that.

The new rancher is also a little bigger. Which I don't really mind. I thought the pre 2014s were a little small anyway.

The only issue with the Battery Tender I found was how welll it worked for me. Sounds dumb, doesn't it.

Here's what I mean. My boy plays a lot of sports so we are gone a lot & his atv sits for long periods. Before the Battery Tender I would randomly start it on a regular basis to make sure the battery was charged. Once I trusted the Battery Tender I didn't start it as often. It sassy for a few months one time & no start this time. It wasn't the battery, battery cranked fine. The carburetor was gummed up. I had to remove it, take it apart, soak it, & clean it to get it to run again. It sucked but I let my son, he's 12, help through the entire process so he will be able to do the same for his kids one day.

How much you gonna pay for it, if you dont mind driving a while you might save a pretty good bit buying it from southern honda.

the only problem with that, is if you dont buy locally and have a problem dealers are less likely to work with you. some will keep putting you to the bottom of their list and take care of the ones that supported them first.
