the only problem with that, is if you dont buy locally and have a problem dealers are less likely to work with you. some will keep putting you to the bottom of their list and take care of the ones that supported them first.

I have an 06 rubicon 500. Love it. Solid rear. No power steering. Pull and electric start. I did have to take it to the shop and have some trans work done to it not long after we bought, bought new. I don't think thats common though. Ill just say the 500 has balls but sometimes I find myself wishing for a Rincon.

If you can afford a 500 do it. Part with all the other BS. That 420 will still shit and get but you'll find yourself wanting more at some point.

    :p

1 reason to go with yamaha tried and true, easy too work on. I will take their ultramatic over a honda automatic any day. too many electronics on the hondas.

had a rubicon, the most important thing on them is keeping the oil and filter changed regularly. when they first came out people were burning the trannys up, lack of oil changes.

Efi would be pretty kick ass too. I'd do that if I bought a new one.

I was just thinking about it. Been a long while since ive really done any riding on it and last time was in Wyoming about 6500 feet and in a whole lot of mud and it was just bogging down. Think it was altitude. Efi would be sweet.

Also, Honda does call their pull start the recoil starter.

Sorry but dont buy an off road couch, if you can consider a bike less expensive to maintain, fix, transport, store and not to mention a lot funner. Im an owner of both and I would get rid of the wife before my bike.
just an opinion of a rider though.

I went on ATV trails with a couple of guys riding dirt bikes... they did not have a good time. Depends on what you like doing I guess. I do plan on trading my ATV in for a dirt bike in the spring though.

I'm confused. I have a 2007 ktm 250 xcw. I want an offroad couch as well. Can't really have a passenger on a dirt bike.

I like my couch and I use it for hunting too. Wouldn't mind trading my cruiser motorcycle for a triumph or bmw dual sport/enduro

I didn't tell him not to get it, getting out on whatever you enjoy it's good it's just that a bike is easier all the way around and that's what I was saying. there's a sticker on the sofa not to ride passengers in fact it's rivited to the the plastics on most quads.
