The ES will have trouble it has sensors (mainly the angle sensor on the front lower of the engine) $50 part. They have a computer that'll flash a code n generally tell ya whats wrong

Your fine to buy any model it'll last ya with normal riding, Id jump on the FI and PS and IRS. We've got the 2007 420 rancher the FI is nice ive ridden a few with the PS and with big agressive tires its a lifesaver.l

Ive heard about the electric shifts tearing up from mud and water. my friend with.the 420 rancher only rides his a few times a year but hes very rough on it most of the time.when I go ride with him he sucks water in the motor enough to stall it out and rides in stuff up past the fenders. His electric shift has never missed a beat.

This right here saved my ass today:

I was half way across town plowing snow for an older lady when my battery went dead on the bike, i had shut it off to go shovel the walks and tidy up....ran back to the bike and buttoned up for the ride home. Then i hit the starter button and it cranked once and just clicked. If not for that backup recoil starter, i would've been stuck on the street in 24degree weather with not enough clothes on and only my mother to come get me in my truck (bad idea, roads weren't plowed yet). I will never ever ever ever ever own an ATV without a backup recoil starter. I can't believe an old feature like that actually saved my ass like it was designed to. Thank you who ever is watching over me and thank you suzuki

Kind of what I was thinking. Why would honda make an electric shifter if it wasn't waterproof and "mud proof"?

The shifter is pretty good I have used it a ton in the mud on my 06 rancher and my 13 foreman. They both have been through deep mud and water many times and still work flawlessly.

I'm probably not getting ES though.. I think I've decided to save some money and not get it. Only because I grew up on 4 wheelers without power steering and it doesn't bother me. I think it would be nice to have it of course, but I'd rather save $700

But I'll try to do some number scratching. I'll get it if I can afford it.

Dude power steering is the nicest thing you can have on a new ATV. Once you test drive one with power steering you never want to go back to anything without it.

This. I have power steering on mine and its amazing. When I jump one of my old Polaris' without it, it feels like something is terribly wrong.

As of now numbers wise, I'll probably be getting power steering. We got the dealer down some on price.

Well to make everyone happy (including me), I have decided to get power steering. I really thought about it the past couple days and thought of where I would be down the road and if I would regret not getting it. Which after thinking and it not being much more per payment, I'll be getting power steering :D
