Only thing I do to these trucks is maintenance/wear items, water pump/ timing belt@90,000mi. Ran into the guy that has my 02, had to do the clutch, 215,000. miles. He says it still runs solid.

I have an A/T. Would have gone for M/T, but I am lazy and live in the city.
Also, have dogs and they take turns laying their head on the center console. I would tap their nose with my elbow if I had an M/T.
Honestly, I am just lazy to get an M/T now. If I didn't planned to regear the Taco I would have went M/T.

I still rest my hand on the selector though as if it's an M/T. I learned to drive on an M/T since I was 14 so it's just a habit.

PS: Millennial as well. 25 yrs old.

Unless you're in LA style rush out traffic, city life is fine with an MT. 2nd gear winds out to most non-highway speed limits. 3rd gear is past highway limits. All other shifting is a one move shift. Fourth to second. Fifth to third.

Resale value lower for a MT... ROFLMAO... wrong!

My 2014 TRD Sport was a MT. I got into an accident (wasn't my fault) where the truck was totaled out, and I got more than the book value because as the rep stated... my truck was rare.

I’m a bit biased. I’ve owned and driven the piss out of 3 manual Tacomas:

    1st gen 5 speed 4cyl with 305k miles
    2nd gen 6 speed 6cyl with 265k miles
    3rd gen 6 speed 6cyl with 36k miles

Resale isn’t too much of a factor for me lol. None of these vehicles has ever left me stranded, and I just keep up on regular maintenance per the manual.

Another reason why I bought an A/T.
My Fiancee sometimes likes taking the Truck to her work cause it helps her start a conversation with clients and she can't drive M/T. Glad I went with Quicksand too since a lot of people likes the color.
