about to clean my throttle body!

ok so im unsure of how much cooolant will spill, anyone got an idea?
im taking the whole throttle body off.

 

if possible clean it with out removing the hoses, thats how i did it on my chevy but that was alot easier to get to since it was right there in your face. or try removing the radiator cap, should help reduce the pressure i think

 

all finished! everything went well. barely any coolant leaked. its idling at about 2RPM but im reseting the ECU right now.
it was pretty dirty, the sea foam spray does a good ass job.

 

v6? what's the proceedure for removing it?


h20, i've never looked, but why do they run the coolant through the TB??

 

yup v6. its very simple.i took out the airbox and hoses off. the throttle body has 4 bolts to take off. then just take off the small coolant lines.
search for a write up, but its very easy.

 

Dont mean to thread jack, but can anyone explain why there are coolant hoses running to the TB? I have always wondered ever since I cleaned mine..

 

i would think its just to keep the throttle body it self cool. hot air is bad? right?

 

how does it help with mpg and power? by reducing intake air temp?

Yes. Its cooler air going into your engine, the cooler the air, the more dense which means more oxygen, more oxygen = more power.

 

Is there something wrong with the throttle body, or are you just cleaning it to clean it?

Hes probably cleaning it just a a maintence thing is my guess. Thats what I do.

 

nothing wrong it just hasnt ever been cleaned. i got about 133000 miles on my baby. i havent had any major repairs. just fix the rear u joint tho.

 

is this 1st gen mod only? does 2nd gen also have the warm fluid loop thinymagigy?
