I have finally gotten ready to start modding/upgrading my Taco.

Suspension is the task at hand. Unfortunately, I didn’t grab a 4x4 which has kept me from putting g cash into the truck, but now have seen what most have done.

I’m not full out overlander just yet, but do like to go off-road/camping from time to time. But the taco is 90% commuter/motorcycle hauler.

I just bought the Bilstein 5100 front/rear, KYB top hats, OME 2885 coil springs. I didn’t get the leaf springs because it just got the factory recall a while back...but wondering if I should?

But wondering if I’m missing anything else? Since I need to look for some vibration trolls, I was wondering is there anything else others could recommend for a non-hardcore overlander, but budding enthusiasts.

Anything like spacers, bearing, bushing, etc...while I’m in there.

    Cheers!

Not sure how much lift you will get from the front but you may need an aal for the rear to level it out and help with rear sag when hauling the motorcycle.

So out of every 10k you drive, 1k is offroad? That would be unusual.

Why not spindles up front and air bags in the rear to compensate for load hauling? Add a set of Michelin Defenders and enjoy the ride.

Ok, more like 99.9%...hahah...didn’t expect anyone to do the math. Hahah.. Sadly, I am was concerned about damaging my truck. So I haven’t really pushed it, only doing minor off roading adventures. But I’m getting over that...

I would advise an AAL also sounds like a good setup thus far.

I have the icon aal and it works well. Bilsteins are a great choice.

Something to consider is... will you want 4x4 once you start exploring?

many start to offroad in 2wd tacos and realize they want a 4x4. Its not too late to sell yours and get a 4x4 before you start the mods.

Then again, this all depends on if you see yourself offroading as a hobby once you realize how fun it is.

Maybe be prepared for new LCA hardware in case they are seized?

If I do the AAL and leave the Bilsteins at 0 will it be level or will it have the same rake like stock? I do have the OME 2885.

I found myself looking at this option. The truck is paid off, and I could get a nice portion of it back in trade or private sale...but would still finance the remaining bit. Just tired of having a truck payment and I just starting to overwhelm myself with truck upgrades. I've done numerous mods to my motorcycle. I wish I had waited for a 4x4...but tis life.

Yes with ome coils dont preload them it will ride like crap. It should sit fairly level or have a slight rake every truck is different.

Does yours have an elocker noticed 2wd OR, if not you could invest in a locker or limited slip an that will vastly increase your capabilities in the dirt, paired with a winch an proper rexovery gear it would be great.

I did a Bilstein lift on my '07 Prerunner last year and I've been happy with it except for one thing. I put a 1" lift block in the rear instead of going with a proper solution and ended up with the dreaded "bro-lean". I'm going to remedy that mistake this year

Just waiting for the snow to melt and to warm up a little bit (I have no garage).

    Front Susp: Bilstein 5100 / OME X885

New Rear Susp: Bilstein 5160 / OME Dakar medium duty / Carrier bearing drop kit

After researching what was thrown out there. I want to make sure what I have is what I need. Just trying to get the 2-2.5 inch in the front and update the suspension.

Here's what I have so far.

    OME 2885
    Bilstiens 5100 Front/Rear
    KYB Supension Mount Kit

    What I'm looking into now.

AAL - Just deciding on which brand.

From what you guys have experienced and have a better idea with what I have and where I am going, I don't need anything else? Not what I want, but what I need. :)

Like new UAC, Front Sway Bar Relocate Kit, Old Man Emu FK29 Driveline carrier, Wheeler's 1/4 Thick single strut top plate spacer.

I'll decide on tires and wheels next.

    Cheers for the helping hand.
