Hey guys, im fixing to get a new exhaust system for my truck. I'm just going to get the muffler shop to put on a single in/dual out flowmaster 40 muffler and get new pipe and tips. So should I get 2.5'' pipe with 3'' tips or 3'' pipe and 4'' tips??

Definitely no more than 3" tips. Definitely.

Unless you plan on doing forced induction, 2.5" tubing is enough. 3" may actually cause you to lose torque on the bottom end. Tips are irrelevant for performance, as long as they are same size or bigger then tubing. It may, however, change the pitch of the exhaust tone slightly.

I'm gonna go with 2.5'' pipe and 3'' side swept tips. Probably gonna take it to the muffler shop Friday. Will they be able to work around my spare tire or am I gonna have to take it off?

I'm getting 2.5 for sure. Are they gonna be able to work around the spare?

Leave your spare on. They can work around it. This way they don't forget about it and will leave space for it.
