About to install a decked system and RSI Smartcap - should I also install a bed stiffener?

About to install a decked system and RSI Smartcap - should I also install a bed stiffener?

A few people were mentioning the bed would shift a bit with the added weight but it seems to me the smartcap would be pretty solid and prevent that from happening.

What I'm concerned about is installing the decked system without the Smartcap, then finding out there's a problem, then having to pull out the decked system to install the bed stiffener.

    Thoughts?

Yes just go ahead and get them if nothing else they make great anchor points for ratchet straps, I think Total Chaos fit the best.

Typically though it's the cap that pushed the bed sides out not the bed load, but what sits on the bed rails.

I have the bed stiffeners and decked waiting on my RSI cap as well. The total chaos ones are really good imo but you can also add or remove them without having to remove the decked system.

Yup its just the bottom two bolts by the tailgate and then the ones into the side. Only thing you have to remove is the tail lamp assemblies.

Also once you get the decked system installed it seems like taking it apart to modify it takes a lot less time then the original install.

I’ll also recommend the Total Chaos bed stiffeners — I have a set on my truck to assist with the snugtop shell and RTT on top of it.

Not the cheapest set out there, but they’re one of the best designs IMO.

Yup they are great and I'm not sure how I got around hauling stuff without those eyelets on them for a strapping point lol.
