@Tehkoema I run this size with my Falken AT3W's and love em. In my experience if you go smaller you'll just want bigger later.

Might be going for Firestone Destination A/Ts. Better price, old-school looks, reviews seem decent.

I agree, my girlfriend noticed that the day I changed it. I also, haven't had a problem in the snow like some people are saying. I drove through and had great traction. Actually, had a great experience on black ice as well.

Hat a set of these on an 03 chevy 1500 I had. Got 80K out of them and they are great in the snow.

    Lotsa shit.
I have ran two sets now of almost 34" E range, 10 ply tires on my truck and after wheeling them, and the wear I have gotten out of them, I am not looking back, the next set will be E range as well. They are heavier than a bastard however, and maybe not what you are looking for, but I still do fine, even with a 2.7 5 speed.

For full disclosure. I had a set of the original BFG KO's when they were introduced in the 90's. Had to wait three months to get them and had them on my 97 2.7 4X4 single cab. They were E rated and lasted over 80k miles. I think it was the light truck that made them last so long but the last set I had I did not like. They cupped and I rotate every 5k and am easy on tires. I had to have one replaced because BFG has gone to using a super thin layer of rubber on the inside and they could not grind it without getting into the cord to apply the patch. Not knocking anyone who like or uses them that is just my experience.

Alignment or bad shock absorbers are reasons for cupping..

Not in all cases. Such as mine. In most cases you are correct. In some cases it is a combination of bad roads and a super soft tire.

It has been done, you are the exception to the rule. As a rule of thumb it will not work and he was asking about a stock configuration and a 7" wide wheel. Because it has or can be done does not make it the best option. Congratulations! You made it work but generally speaking it is not that easy and also depends on the actual tire you choose. I stand by my comment.

Sorry @bobrown14. This was meant for @SearArtist. In my opinion it would not be wise.

Since you are asking for advice, what are you really looking to do with the truck? We can give you recommendations all day, but we would be biased towards our own agenda versus yours.

If you are not looking to do any serious rock crawling/off-roading then I would stick with a Passenger (P) / Standard Load (SL) tire. They will be lighter than any Light Truck (LT) tire, ride better, and save MPGs. Now the P/SL tire are not as durable against punctures like LT tires especially when you go for a C/D/E load tire. C/D/E load tires will be able to handle more weight and will be “thicker” to protect against punctures. The rock crawling crowd enjoy this as they wont get a flat tire when brushing against a sharp rock (so I hear). The LT tires will ride a little harsher, lose MPGs, and might feel acceleration lose on our V6.

If you are doing mostly pavement driving with rain/snow I would definitely spring for an All-Terain (AT) tire. If you must go with the BFG KO2s grab a C load over the E load if it applies to you. If you think you can get away with a P/SL tire then I would recommend the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 or the Falken Wildpeak. Both of these tires come in P/SL and also LT loads. Another LT tire to look at are the Cooper ST Maxx.

As you noticed, some sizes come in a variety of loads. Shopping for tires is like shopping for clothes. It must meet your size, taste and intended purpose!

Good luck and post pictures when you find a set!

Well, everyone has an opinion so I’ll weigh in here. I only have about 1000 miles on my KO2’s so can’t speak for longevity or durability. I bought 265/75-16 for my TRD OR, Load Range E, running at 30-35 psi. However, as new tires they aren’t noticeably noisier than the OEM 265/70 GY Adventures (which had 45K miles on them when I switched, so perhaps noisier than when new, but it’s hard to notice a gradual increase in noise). In fact, proportional to overall wind/engine/road noise, they are less annoying than the hum from the Bridgestone Ecopias on my wife’s VW. I picked the KO2’s because of general reputation and limited availability of any LT tire in 265/75-16 and I wanted a more durable tire for desert travel after two flats with the Goodyears. Ride on pavement is maybe a tad harsher, but there’s so much variation in road quality here, that eclipses any specific tire ride issues. I’ve done over 100 miles in Death Valley off pavement, and both at full pressure and aired down to 25 they felt great. I also have some miles in rain and snow and thought they did well.

MPG is noticeably affected; comparing GPS with the speedo, the tires seem to be a little over 2% taller, but even accounting for that I’ve lost almost 1 mpg (US gallons) over the past 1K miles. But maybe too early to tell. Otherwise I don’t notice any performance effects, and steering precision is nice, tires run straight and are perfectly balanced up to at least 85 mph, the fastest I’ve gone. And, yeah, I like the looks.

What about Hankook Dynapro A/T-Ms? They are snow peak rated, look awesome, priced-right. Seems great? I'll make a thread I guess.
