So...it has been a good run....10 years and 140k miles, but i need a pickup for my General Contracting side business, which i am happy to say is growing. Looking at a DC in silver, with either the Sport or Off-road package, tow package, and i really want the JBL system. One dealer said the jbl was only in the limited, but i hate all that chrome. Is that true? Also is there a significant difference in the 2 packages? Read something about A-trac being different(?) How does the ride vary? My buddy had a new Sport, and it is stiff (probably not broken in yet as it only had 800 miles on it).

If you are buying a 4x4 the Sport does not have a rear locker or A-Trac. I think A-Trac is amazing so I recommend it, it has worked amazing for me.

As far as the chrome, my local body shop has a contract with Toyota and they ordered me a color matched bumper for $350 painted/installed. I sold my chrome bumper for $250 on CL. The color matched bumpers come unpainted from Toyota for $250 and the chrome is $675, so the chrome is worth a bit more. I also ordered a color matched grill surround and got that for $165, I then sold my take off grill surround for $130 on CL.

So, you can get the better 4x4 in the Off Road and lose the chrome for cheap.

If you are looking for a work truck for your contracting business, you will probably find more use for a 6' bed than a 5'. In the US the 6' bed is only available in the TRD Sport and Sr5 models, NOT the TRD Off-road.

It will be my daily driver to get to my primary job (deputy sheriff) and will be used on occasion for general contracting. Wish there were 3 more inches in rear legroom though! Actually, if the backside pic the front seats were molded differently, that would give more knee room, which is what i really want.

I bought a SBDC Sport, and have often wished I had the long bed, but more often I'm glad for the shorter overall length. I like the stiff ride and flat cornering of the Sport also. Hint on the options you may want: Get them factory installed, or you'll pay for dealer labor for install. Your dealer that told you that noise about JBL was trying to sell you a truck from his inventory. F him. Decide exactly what you want and shop by phone to your local dealers for best price. You'll soon find one to give you a great price on a factory order, but once they are in inventory, the prices go way up.

I am a member of Costco, and the place i am looking to buy from said he would give me the Costco price, and get me whatever truck i wanted with whatever options i wanted. On top of that, he was pleasant to talk to. I used to sell cars in the summers in college, so i consider myself to not only be smarter than the average bear when it comes to car purchases, but i can also spot a load of BS from a mile away(also goes along with being in LE).
