Glad this post has helped so many people. Your best friend in troubleshooting this issue is a multi-meter. Unplug your sensor's one at a time and check voltage at the harness plug(s). If all the voltages look like the photo above on this page (the good voltage) then you most likely have a bad sensor.

when I turn on cruise control, this happens. When I turn off the vehicle, and turn it back on again it disappears. Only for it to come back again once using cruise... What do you guys thing it is. I know this is an old thread.

The quickest way to get to the root of the problem would be to pull the code its throwing from the ABS module. A regular OBD-II scanner won't be able to pull these codes so you'll need Tech-Stream or another scanner capable of accessing the module. Best of luck.

Hello.. Yes, this is an old thread. I just had my ABS and traction light come after coming back from Steamboat. I replaced the front wheel bearings about 6 weeks ago and everything seemed fine. Not sure if its related.
I went to the car wash once I got back home and squirted down everything and underneath of the front wheels. When I started the truck the lights where on, after about 1/2 mile they went off. Stopped at the store, then drove away they came on then went off. I will look at the above posts and see if I can find anything.. I am not 100% on how to check the cable with multimeter.
My truck is 09 dbl cab 4x4

    Thanks and Happy New year!

Have you made sure the speed sensors are plugged in good?
I typically take the sensors out when doing the bearings.
Do you take your sensors out?

If so, did you make sure the little o-ring was still there and in good shape when you put the sensor back in?
Some times, depending on the shape of the o-ring, I’ll use some dielectric grease on the o-ring.
If the o-ding is in pretty bad shape, I will put just a small amount of RTV on the upper section where it sits on the knuckle. That way no water gets in. JUST A SMALL DAB.

I did not take the sensors out. Maybe I did something to them and not realized it. If so, do I have to take the bearings out to check? Or can I get to it form the back side? I think there is a bolt that holds it in..
I will look better this week... I just got back Steamboat and my ass is a little kicked...

    Thanks

No. You can get to it easily.
But before I did anything, I would stop by a local auto parts store and see if they can pull the codes for you.

The ABS and traction light seems to be intermittent.
The plastic is cracked. Not sure if that is the problem, but either way I need to replace it. What part should I get to fix that?

For now I have black tape wrapped around it.
    Thanks.

Looks like this the part I need? Part Number: 8951604060
    Or this one.
    89516-04030
I am not sure which one exactly.

I’m having a similar problem. 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport DBL Cab 5’ bed. ABS, BRAKE, and Traction Control lights lit up on the dash. Replaced all 4 wheel speed sensors, and reset the OBD2. A day later they all came back on. Reset again, same problem. Changed all 4 sensors, AGAIN, and reset again. Still no change. Checked voltage in all 4 connections, and they’re good - 11.XX. Any ideas on next steps?

Is your ODB2 scanner capable of reading the ABS module? What codes did you have before you reset? If your scanner didn’t log any codes but the lights were on before reset, I’d suggest a scanner capable of reading the ABS module. It’s going to give more data on what code it’s throwing and help you isolate the part that needs replacing.

I replaced my wire harness to solve my issue. The link to my thread is up a few posts to get the full story.

Here is the part# for my application I replaced. This is for the rear:

Wire, SkidControl sensor harness (Part#89516-04060 (no rear diff lock) )
