Truck (2015 Tacoma DCLB) was doing fine until I drove down the driveway this morning and noticed that the ABS, BRAKE, and traction control lights were all on. Parked the truck and started doing a little research and found some good tips on this site. One tip was about damage done by tow truck driver to cable, wires, or harness.
Got underneath the truck and started looking around to see if anything looked suspicious or had been damaged. I have not had truck towed or anything unusual happen (that I knew of) so wasn’t really positive I would find anything. I’ve checked all fuses and they are fine.
Lo and behold, I see this wire on the passenger side rear wheel looks like it’s been cut!
What is it and how hard is it to replace?
    Thanks in advance,

that's the ABS wheel speed sensor. Why would someone cut that? Pretty shitty thing to do. You will probably have to replace the harness.:(

Thanks Blue Canary. Really odd how clean of a cut it is. I live out in the country and haven’t had the truck anywhere it could’ve been molested. must have some sharp rocks on these gravel roads around here.

Now I need to figure out what part to order. Just the wire harness or the sensor, too

Happened to me this past winter, my chains got bunched and cut the wire. I imagine splicing the harness would be pretty simple but I just ordered the wiring harness since mine was pretty worn. The one I ordered was "
Genuine Toyota 89516-04060 Skid Control Wire" (06 4wd trd sport) but i've seen it called the ABS sensor wire. Less than 5 minute install.

Looks like assassin pulled up in short bus and cut wheel speed sensor wire and not hydraulic brake fluid line

I always wondered where these go
though they may only protect the sensor and not wires

    (SHDQ billet ABS guards)

Why perform a $5 wire repair when you can replace a $2k harness

There’s not much wire left on the connector, hence “probably” have to replace the harness. It all depends on the op’s capability and comfort level. Some on here would just drive it like it is and say fuck it, others not so.

I doubt that short harness cost 2K dollars. It looks more like $85.00.

I would splice it but like Blue Canary stated, there’s not much wire left on the sensor end.
I’m ordering a harness and will get it installed ASAP. appreciate everyone’s input. Very helpful

Looks like some amateur wanted to cut your brake line but cut the abs wire instead.

That would concern me very much. That looks like an obvious intentional cut wire.

OP have you pissed anyone off lately?

Nobody that lives close enough to come by and cut the wire.

Anybody know the part no. for the rear ABS skid control wire for a 2015 Tacoma? I been looking all over and everytime I try to find one on Amazon it says it don’t fit my vehicle.

Cut? Doubt it...violent shit happens under the truck.

Short wire solder splice, wrap her up and go.

Yeh, I was being facetious. Nobody was around to cut it. I am really considering trying to splice, but would need to take of sensor end to manipulate and solder. How does it come off?
All the harnesses I find are all for the Front. I need REAR if I cannot splice.

I did find this info regarding why NOT to splice the wire:
“It is recommended not to slice the wire because the speed sensors are a magnetic pickup sensor and when the wheels are turning the sensors generate a very low voltage. A splice in the wires may change the resistance in the wires and change the voltage the computer sees....”

I have sliced them on the front end with no issues. I would not think twice about it. Not exactly sure how it comes off but it should either be a single bolt holding the whole unit in or a connector of sorts. Am thinking connector...

So took bolt out to remove sensor. Solder it all up and shrink wrapped.
    Lights out!
