Thanks for that info and procedure! It seems like the earlier 2nd gens are like the Galactica... plenty of computers, not necessarily all networked together.

Whatever manual you pulled that from is awesome!!!

I'll try clearing the codes tomorrow. Then see what codes if any pop back up after a short drive.

So I cleared the codes and went for a drive this morning. Slow speeds and plenty of turns. ABS pump kicked on randomly throughout the drive until the ABS light illuminated again.

Pulled the code and only 31 showed up this time.

Hesitant to pull the sensor and go looking in this weather as it would likely break I imagine and I still don't know for 100% that sensor is the issue. I'll take the wheel off this afternoon and do a visual inspection and start following wires. I think I'll also see what connectors I can find and check them for corrosion. Unfortunately I live in Omaha Nebraska now which has the most ridiculous DOT I have ever seen. They spread a ridiculously high amount of salt all over the roads to the complete detrimental effect of it's citizens, vehicles, and likely nearby crop land.

So after driving around again today the ABS light turned itself back off again.. I just don't get it....that being said I am leaning towards that sensor but I don't just want to shotgun parts at a truck.

    Anyone else have any tips?

Without a scan tool to read ABS data to see what the sensors are actually doing your kinda stuck with guessing.
Since you live where they salt the roads rust jacking is another possibility, you could look at the sensor and see if it looks like rust has grown under it and forced it up.
