I just bought a 2015 tacoma access cab 4x4 and after a week of driving noticed the abs hydrobooster motor running everytime I pressed breaks along with a squishy sounding pedal. Is this normal? I can’t get a straight answer anywhere I ask. Mechanics don’t even seem to know

Our trucks don’t have a hydroboost system, all trucks used vacuum assist except for the the TRD offroad in a few select years which uses an electric brake booster is this what you are referring to? Otherwise maybe someone swapped an aftermarket booster in.

It sounds to me like the accumulator is bad.

Shouldn’t hear that pump on every push.

that is Normal, it’s the electro hydraulic pump pressing up the accumulator.

    Varies.
    3,4,6, ??
The squirt sound is pressure release through the assembly.

I just tested it again and the motor runs every 2 presses most it ever go is 3 then motor runs 100%
Biggest thing is the pedal that when pressed makes the most annoying squirt sound. Is the squirt normal?

I've not owned my 13 tacoma long. But The brakes piss me off. Squish/squirt noise, then BAM grab hard.

I've driven a 07 FJ cruiser and the brakes have a similar booster and while they are strong, there is no sharp quick grab that is difficult to modulate. And they dont squish

I hope this is the problem. Every time I ask this question I get told it's normal.

Did you push it like in the vid or with your foot?
Noise is relative.Do you hear it when the truck is running?
    Yes some noise is normal

Squirt happens 100% of time on the push of pedal. Not the release

They do have that funky feel.
I would try cleaning and adjusting the rear brakes.
    May calm that down some..

    I’m sorry.
    Wasn’t clear.
Did you push the pedal with your foot and the pump started at the second and third push?

When pressing break pedal the actuator pump runs and ive never gone more that 3 pumps without it running, sometimes it’s one pump some times 2 but no more than 3. And the pedal makes squishy noise ever single time it is depressed. If that’s normal I can’t believe they would design something so fucking annoying in a new truck. You can hear that stupid motor running clear as day with no music on plus the pedal noise…
