I've searched and can't find how to get the ABS light to flash the codes. Can anyone tell me?

    The ABS is read by
    1. turning ON the ignition
    2. Disconnect the short pin from DLC1
    3. Connect terminals Tc and E1 of the DLC1
    4. Read the DTC from the ABS light
DLC1 is located on the intake plenum RH side labeled Diagnostics (3.4 motor).
Make sure to replace the short pin before starting the vehicle.

I cannot find the diagnostics port, can someone post a video or am I just missing the port? Attaching a photo of where it's missing. Also today, ABS light goes out, truck has serious issues braking. When under light speed and attempting to brake, the truck pulls to the left, hear a loud grinding noise. I checked the pads and rotors, they're good. I unplugged the ABS harness, the ABS light comes on and the truck drives normal, clean the ABS connections, plug it back in and the truck is driving fine again. What the hell am I missing??

Apparently the newer trucks (2002-2004) use the OBDII and a scan tool to read and reset ABS codes.

I'm looking at code readers and most of them only show compatibility with 2003 and 2004 models. Can I use a paperclip to jump the terminals and flash the trouble codes? If so which terminals?

If a wheel speed sensor is malfunctioning the ABS will activate on braking making a rapid Grrrrr sound until you stop braking. Each wheel has a speed sensor held in place with 1 bolt. Follow the wire to find the sensor. Only the most expensive OBD11 tools can access ABS reset program.

Am I reading it right that a jumper between the two aforementioned pins on the obd2 port to flash the code on the dash only works on 2002-04 models?

I have a 2000 with an intermittent ABS light I'd like to figure out

Any good scan tool with ABS capability should read it just fine. The only time I've ever had issues was on early production '96 vehicles, some which seem to be a weird OBD 1.5. A lot the cheaper consumer-grade OBD II "code readers" simply won't read OBD or SRS codes.

My scan tool doesn't communicate with ABS faults

Does anyone know if this jumper method will work for a 2000 Taco?

I'm troubleshooting a 2000 3.4L tacoma with ABS and rear diff lock lights on. Trying to jumper to read the ABS codes. I've jumpered pins Tc and E1 on the diagnostic port, and turned the ignition to on. The ABS light stays illuminated solid... no flashing codes. The airbag and seatbelt lights do flash. Anyone have ideas about what I'm missing here to read the codes? Thanks!
