Nope. Just found out that my stock Dunlops would stop just fine without abs.

    It's all about the tires

No one is having any problems otherwise

Let's take Hugh Moron's observation then , with less than ideal tires for snow and ABS disabled he can stop , with the same tires and ABS enabled he cannot stop

Same tread , 2 different results

I'll take stopping over appeasing the ABS system in the hopes it will allow me to stop any day

With that I'm done with this thread again

    See you in the fall

I wouldn't blame abs issues on the tires.

You are joking, right? The feds just fined Toyota for not disclosing the Unintended Acceleration problem (a topic from another thread).

On my '05, I rarely got the pulsing or ABS noise. In two cases, one off road and the other moments before my Tacoma was totaled, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and there were no brakes. Yes, I had Toyota look at the 1st problem, but they said they could find nothing wrong.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
yet they have done nothing about other manufacturers with the same problem.

Some out there have as many claims on one model as Toyota had across the entire line.

I would call advice like "Just let it do its thing" or "Thats what insurance is for" as questionable. If there is a problem with your abs just don't ignore it, do something about it. Close calls should be warning enough, don't wait for an accident.

I will agree that most people say better tires help the abs issue but the problem is my first year of owning a Tacoma I did not have the extra money to buy new tires and I did have to scrape the money together the second year to replace the Dunlops(which were worn out at 17K).

My 2015 AC doesn't seem to have the ABS problem like most say. After reading most of these post and trying to create panic situations on snow pack rds and iced roads, the truck did what I expected it to do. It tracks straight on panic stops with snow pack and it slid out of control on ice.

The bottom line is, if there is ice, your going to slide, don't hope the ABS is going to do anything.

The wheels never locked, the abs was doing what it was supposed, to I guess, just quick to respond and not let off. I agree that these tire suck. The slightest slip and abs takes over the braking.

Speed wasn't an issue, I was pulling into a pump and maneuvering around the coke a cola truck and other parked cars. Clearly, this speed was too fast for the tires to handle giving the conditions. I mean less than 5 mph.

I'm just surprised with the amount if people that complain about the sensitivity, there hasn't been some adjustment in the abs system. I wonder if all the abs controled traction features are the reason for the over sensitive braking.

The original tires on my 03 GMC were horrible, Goodyear Wranglers of some variety. Traction on dry ground was adequate at best, and it went down hill fast from there when it was wet. So far the Rugged Trails have been decent but obviously there to meet a price point yet still have a 'look'

The first new truck I ever bought was a Ford Ranger. It came with Wrangler RT/S tires. That thing was dangerous, the tires didn't even have sipes yet still had a solid outer tread! There was no where for water or soft stuff to exit the tire.

More like looks plus being the lightest possible shoes so Toyota can maximize fuel efficiency and "performance" claims.

We had freezing rain from about 10 am till 4 pm today in my part of the world. Still no ABS issues for me on my truck. I even drove around the block trying to create one. The only thing I got even close with was when I drove across an old gravel lot to play with my truck a bit and the ABS went off due to the uneven surface, even then going about 30 mph I stopped in maybe 75-100 feet right where I wanted to.

I did get to watch an older model Ford car do a barrel roll in the ditch on the highway on my way to a meeting today. He entered a slide, hit the brakes (his tail lights flicked on at least), it appeared things locked up which put him sideways, and then the moment he touched the ditch the car went around and over on it's side once around then back on it's wheels. Good thing he was only going 30 mph like the rest of us or it could of been bad. He was fine, a bit shaken till his daughter and an ambulance showed up.
