So.....I like the thought of getting OEM stuff when for the sake of consistency, but sometimes the math just doesn't work out :notsure:

Quote from my local dealer for rear abs sensors for my new (new to me, shout out to @Yota X . Thanks buddy, I'm almost finished!) rear carrier (2003 3.4 xtra) were quoted @ 300$. EACH!:confused:

Aftermarkets available for anywhere from $40 - $140.

This strikes me a s one of those times when it SHOULDN'T matter, but I don't know anyone running them. So the question for the hive is: Have you used aftermarket abs sensors, and did it end well?

I used a cheapo. Fixed the flashing abs and the noise associated but the light in on. Likely not fixed lol. I'd go oem, mabye find a used sensor.

Are you doing this work yourself, or are you having the dealer rebuild an axle for you?

I'd highly suggest getting the part numbers for these components and sourcing them online. Even the online portal for your local dealer will often be cheaper than giving an order to someone at the desk. But get the part numbers and shop around at other dealers, and the quality online wholesale sites (toyota parts deal).

Also - what makes you think you need new senors? They aren't really a wear item, and unless you can confirm the ones you have actually aren't working- then I'd just clean them up and run them.

Use electric contact cleaner on the sensors themselves, as well as the plug on the harness. Follow the cable up to the drivers side frame rail. spray thoroughly with contact cleaner, shake as much cleaner out as you can, wait long enough for it all to dissolve, and connect it back up. Inspect the cables for any damage as you go. I was able to successfully repair one of my cables (with the right gauge wire, solder, and marine-grade heat shrink).

So you'd all advocate for shopping the OEM for price, and even take a chance with salvaged OEM over the aftermarket chineesium? I'll see if the google box can get me out for under 6 bills.

New axle doesn't have em. Destroyed the ones in the old axle trying to remove. They have the tone rings inside, and the port has the dust cover on it and a clean hole. It gets a bit dicey traction-wise here in the Adirondacks for about 7 months out of the year so I'd like to get them installed, for winters sake.
