I was driving to work here in Texas yesterday and it was 99F and I got cold AC out the far left vent but not the middle 2. They all blew the same force so I know it isn't plugged up and the blower works. Does the AC cool all the air at once or is it like separate for each vent? Do you think it was just because it sat in the sun all day and it was like 300F inside the car and the vents and stuff were so hot it warmed the air and the outside one just cooled down fastest?

It may be low on refrigerant, check and see if the suction line is cold with the engine running & A/C on high.

If it's not cold or is barely cool you have a refrigerant issue (low on refrigerant or other refrigerant related issue), if it's nice and cold you may have a blend door issue (actuator not moving to full cold, broken door, etc).

+1 on a symptom of a low refrigerant charge impacting the evaporator, especially if it partially or completely goes away on a colder day.

I had the same issue when I first bought my truck. Topped up the refrigerant with one of these cans and it worked completely fine after.

Yeah sounds like it. Def a symptom of low refrigerant. I would check the condenser first. The UV dye is likely the best option.

Did it take a while for the issue to return after the re-charge? If so, it's likely a slow leak somewhere. I had this happen to me one time and a re-charge fixed it. It stayed cold and the issue never returned before I eventually traded the car some time after.

I had the ac motor and stuff replaced in September and it lasted until it was cold then I didn't use it until last 2 or 3 weeks. I had a recharge can so I threw it on there and it was low so I filled it back up about 2 week ago. I can check the level again if its low i prolly got a leak or maybe it needs a top off idk. Gonna get that dyed stuff see if i can see it come out or whatever

I recharged it myself as well. It was just slightly low and didn't take much to bring it to full charge per the gauge. It never happened again in the time I had it for another 40-50 thousand miles so I just chalked it up to a gradual natural aging loss over-time on a 20+ year-old car.

I have heard, but cannot verify, that overcharging can cause the same or similar problems. YMMV
