If a bolt moves then binds, don't horse it. run it back in a bit, then hit it with PB, Kroil, what ever. Work it in and out. Bind again? Repeat. It will come out. DON"T horse it, patience. Then.. new bolt and anti seize. Rub some in your hair 1st, coz it will get there anyhow, somehow. ;)

Don't rub anti seize in your hair, it will find it's own way. :) Good luck.

For the shocks, don't even try. Just use a grinder and cut them off.

Its OUT! Thanks to your good advice. I was about to give up and break out the tap kit...

Now to find those replacement bolts I bought last year!

So I got the new AC clutch hub and that one doesn't fit either.

At this point I'm quite sure its an aftermarket compressor.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about finding a hub that
will fit the compressor splines? I hate the idea of buying a new compressor
and going through the trouble of recharging the system when all I need is
the final 15 or 20 dollar part.

Well this sucks. Just got into Chicago. It’s like 95 degrees. Pull off 94 and hear a terrible squeal. A/C goes out.

I just looked at my email and I replaced this clutch almost exactly a year ago. July 11th.

Looks like I have to do it again. I’m hoping that’s all it is. If I turn the a/c completely off there’s a terrible grinding noise.

Also strange that my A/C light isn’t blinking this time.

Pretty sure it’s just the clutch again. Just getting around to looking at it right now.

I don’t know if this video link works, but the clutch is fuuuuucked. This is less than a year/10k miles on the eBay replacement o_O

Does your compressor spin smoothly? It would seem that there would be a cause for the rubber to wear out so quickly. I.E. As suggested the bearing is going bad.

I took the clutch off and ran the truck. No noise at all from the compressor/pulley.

That grinding I heard was the two pieces of the clutch spinning against each other. That pic above is exactly how it came out. There wasn’t a bit of rubber left on it.

I agree though. There has to be a reason I’ve gone through 2 of these in less than 70k miles.

Make sure you have the proper air gap on the next clutch. Too tight and it will rub and get hot. Too loose and it will slip and get hot. Result is melted rubber. Shims and feeler gauge.
