I had a sealed one only last a year. I'm guessing it was just a lemon though. I think it is a fair amount cheaper to just replace the bearing.

I just replaced the bearing on my compressors pulley. Didn't have any problem getting the pressure plate off. Can you gently tap it with a hammer?

    Pic of the snap ring.
I thought it was a pita to get out. I pulled my radiator so I had enough room to get the snap ring pliers in a good spot.

Man - glad you guys mentioned the idler pulley bearing. Turns out that was the culprit. Super easy fix. Here are some pictures of the one that came out. Unless you have a press or a big vice, you have to buy a ney pulley with the bearing installed. I would have tried to source the bearing, but I needed this fixed asap.

Socket and hammer should get them out and in pretty easily.

Glad you didn't have to do the one on the compressor

The next time, use a couple of sockets to push out that bearing. Helps if you have a vice too. Otherwise just hit the smaller socket a few taps with a hammer. Then carefully push in the new bearing.

You can buy just the bearing at any motorcycle shop. I forget the part number but you can find it on this forum with about 5 minutes of searching. I paid about $3.50 for my bearing.

The entire job took about 2 hours because I had to drive to the m/c shop for the part and remove the front protective pan.

Thanks for the tip on the motor cycle shop. 3.50 would have been better than 30. Just a caution mine would not come out with a hammer. I mean it might have if I had gone to town but at that point I was trying not to destroy the bearing because I didn't know that it was bad. I did give it a few "taps" with a socket and 3lbs sledge before getting into my vice. Just a ymmv point.

Hi folks. Any tricks to getting the clutch off? It’s just spins and I can’t find a way to ‘lock’ it in place. Got the new AC clutch kit ready to go.
