So my new ac compressor clutch wasnt kicking on so i jumped the pressure switch on the evap box and the clutch engaged and i was able to put freon in and fill my system. 2 days later my ac clutched stopped engaging so i tried filling freon to see and it wont let me put freon in. the ac gauge just goes straight to red and wont let me fill it up. So i tried jumping the pressure switch again and that isnt kicking the clutch on anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Its hot over here in Hawaii where i live and i need this AC working!! It was working fine for 2 days blowing ICE COLD till the clutch stopped working. I also checked the AC fuse and its not blown. Ive read that these trucks dont have an AC relay either. Did i blow something when i jumped the pressure switch the first time??

Could i possibly need a new ac pressure switch? I know for a fact the compressor has freon because it was literally just blowing ICE COLD. so i would assumer jumping the switch accidentally broke the switch? i mean prior to even trying to fix my ac the new compressor wouldnt take freon unless i jumped it which it worked for until now. any help would be GREAT!

You could possibly have too much in there. If it was me I would take it to a mechanic that has the means to diagnose it and maybe look for leaks. Should be able to tell you if the compressor is bad as well. As your pickup is a 95 chances are there are a few parts that need replaced. AC systems are a skill in itself and if you use those do it yourself charge kits you can sometimes put too much in there.

Find out why the clutch isn't engaging. The fans should kick on when the coil engages the clutch. So if the fans aren't running, it's saying there is a fault.

If the fans are running, and the clutch isn't engaged, it could be the clutch is worn from excessive bearing play.

The system needs a specific amount of refrigerant to function properly. 600 ± 50 g (21.16 ± 1.76 oz.) in the 95-97 Tacomas. If the low-side is reading too high to fill, then I would say its either over-charged, or has air in the system.

i forgot to mention that my ac compressor is brand new from couple months ago (DENSO) but when we installed it the clutch never engage so we jumped the compressor from battery and the clutch kicked in so we knew it wasnt the compressor. We were going to rewire the compressor to turn on when i press the ac button but then i saw something about jumping the ac pressure switch as i stated in this thread. yada yada yada WC worked couple days then stopped so tried to jump pressure switch again and the clutch didnt engage so right now i am stumped

Maybe a dumb question, but the clearance is set right on the new AC clutch? I put in a new one, and I had to guess and check with the shims to get the clearance just right.

Here's the 95-97 FSM for Air Conditioning. See if it can help.

I think i burnt something on the AC Amplifier. I use to be able to jump the pressure switch to kick on now I cant and doesnt it go through the AC Amplifier to tell the compressor to turn on? heres what my AC Amplifier looks like right now. I pulled it out while trying to figure out why I cant jump the pressure switch anymore.

I can't see anything from this image alone that looks like its been overloaded, but that can be hard to do. But I will say that you've got multiple points of corrosion on that board. If you have electronics experience, I would test traces in that area for continuity, and test that 2 watt 240ohm resistor. It looks to be in poor health.

Here's a seller that sells them, should you decide to replace it:
