I posted this inquiry over in the general section and did not receive a response. Thought I would cross post over here.

Question for those who have removed their ac compressors. Did you drop it out from the bottom or lift it out from the top? I'm going to begin tearing mine apart today (08 offroad) If from the top did you remove the alt or was there room to wiggle it through. FSM does not mention---Chilton's suggests from the bottom. Just looking for the quickest solution.
    Thanks in Advance,

Lost a compressor on an '08? Man, what a bummer. I am assuming the FSM is saying to remove it from the bottom if they want you to take the wheel and meat curtain out of the way first.

I also like how the FSM says "discharge refrigerant".

I appreciate you posting up.........Got the compressor out through the wheel well after pulling the alt. I got lucky the clutch let go and not the compressor. I'll be replacing the condenser and drier. Have you any idea how much pag oil the evaporator holds? The new compressor holds 5 oz. flushed. I'm not sure how much oil to add to the new compressor. If any one has an idea/educated guess please chime in.
    Thanks in Advance,
