I am about to replace the AC Compressor on 2017 Tacoma v6 engine. The Four Seasons Model 168677 has been recommended by online sellers. There are several makers. What recommendations you ya'll have about which one to select. Prices vary. Thanks

Which refrigerant oil does your truck use? That particular compressor is filled with HFO1234yf oil. If your truck uses PAG 46 oil you should drain the new compressor and add the correct stuff. Check the label under the hood.
EDIT: Also there may be two different styles of compressor (Delphi or Valeo) and you may need to identify which one. The four seasons one you mention replaces a Delphi SP15.

Another thing: What was the failure? If the old compressor grenaded and sent debris out into the system you might need to replace the condenser/dryer assembly and flush the discharge line.

Is there a way to identify the existing compressor without taking it out? Tight quarters down there.

They’ll probably both fit, it’s the refrigerant oil you need to verify according to Four Seasons.
Check the tag under the hood.

Btw Rusty. I only got this truck 6 months ago. I suspect it got low on freon & the previous owner failed to get it fixed. And sat for a long time. Otherwise, not sure how, when, or why it locked up.
