Just found out yesterday that I have a small hole in my ac condenser. Dealership said they could fix it for $1160 not counting freon. Has anyone replaced their condenser with a aftermarket one, if so, which one is the best replacement? I've been looking on the internet and found many condensers that SUPPOSE to fit the 06 Tacoma. Confused which one to purchase. Thanks for any help.

I haven't changed a condenser on any of my Tacoma's but I have changed a few on other car's I've had. It's not that big a deal but you'll probably have to pull the bumper and grill off to do it. With a leak in it your A/C is probably empty anyhow so you don't have to worry about evacuating it. The hole will have done that for you. You should be able to get a far less expensive condenser from rockauto or something. Get a new dryer/dessicant too while you are at it. And when putting things together make sure you lubricate any o-rings with pag oil before putting the fittings together. Once you have it buttoned up you'll have to pull a vacuum on it for at least 30 minutes then make sure it holds pressure. You probably don't have the tools to do this so you'll likely need some shop assistance for that. I bought my own gauges and vacuum pump years ago so I could service my own A/C systems but it's kind of foolish to do for one job.
