Morning gents! I bought a set of AC Delco coil springs to compliment my new Billy's that are about to go in. When they arrived, I noticed both ends are rounded vs. tapered like the factories. They came with an advice stating they're compatible, but I'm weary and don't want that rounded edge digging into the seat.

Anybody have experience or thoughts? Thanks!

Great question. At 190k miles and only $70 for the coils, I figured why not.

What are your thoughts on that decision?

Just a quick thought.....the seat on the 4600's have an offset and appears as if the lower end should fit nicely.

i would use the OEMs coils that came on the truck, my 2004 had 240k miles and needed new shocks and I looked into getting new coils for the same reason u are, I researched it online and found that its unfounded to replace the coil springs, I replaced the shocks with Bilstein 4600s and all was good and that was at 240k hard miles.

    I'm sure they'll work.

But unless your OEM springs were sagging quite a bit, I'd keep them on there and return the ones you bought if you can.

If you're going to get new springs, go for either factory OEM (which I don't think are that different in price than what you got), or get something like Old Man Emu springs.

The spring really only sets the ride height. You're using good shocks with your coilovers. I think you'll be just fine using those springs, OP. I wouldn't have any concerns running em, at least any concerns trying them. Does AC Delco list a spring rate for them?

IMG_5759.jpg I appreciate the insights, guys.

I can't find the spring rate for them. With that said, AC Delco says these are OE replacements.

As far as price, the OEM springs are about $350 new....ouch!

I got the Billy's in today and mock built the strut to make sure the rounded edge sat in the seat okay. It does actually, and very easily.

I honestly don't see any sag in the front of the truck, so I guess it's just me wanting a new set up all the way around. Love those Amazon gift cards!
