Is the ac supposed to drip the entire time it’s running ? My ac works but does not drip at all. The carpet also does not get wet.

    Any ideas?

In low humidity, it might not drip, but you might want to make sure the drain tube isn't blocked. if it is, eventually, you will get water dripping onto the carpeting.

It should be dripping a little bit, it will drip more the more humid it is outside.. In the passenger wheel well if you take off the splash guards, right next to the frame you should see the drain tube. You could try using something like a stiff wire and stick it up there and make sure it's not clogged.

    It’s been about 70-90% humidity

How do I check if it’s clogged?

I just looked back at a video I took, it's a little bit above the frame, a little tube sticking out of the firewall, kind of level with the cat on the header.

use compressed air, thats what techs at my work do to check if the drip tube is blocked.

If you wait to see the floor get wet you'll have a rusty/fried blower motor to replace.

Be careful with the wire, you don't want to poke a hole in the tube inside the firewall.

Would compressed air in a can do it ?

The blower motor already makes some annoying sounds on low

Did you notch your bumper where the ac line is? I am asuming your ac is still working but I wonder if your line is banged up and maybe the ac system isn’t working optimally? Dont stick more than 4-5”s i would guess in that tube or you might hit the evaporator core. Compressed air in a can might get it but id be worried what ever is clogging it will eventually find it’s way back into the drain tube.

I did notch it. My ac has always sucked. Recently the compressor started making some noises

    Just got this today

    Ok what the hell!!
Drain tube isn’t clogged, was able to easily blow air in with my mouth.

Drain tube is super dry and didnt leak a drop. Floor mats never got wet and neither did anywhere under the dash. Ran it for over 15 mins too. I could feel slightly cool air blowing from the drain tube

If your ac isn't working very well then it makes sense that you wouldn't see very much moisture. There is less heat exchange occurring in the hvac unit (warm air giving up heat to the evaporator core) so youre not seeing any condensation develop and drip.

It's good that you checked the drain tube, if/when you get the system blowing nice and cold (compressor replacement, re-charg, etc) you'll see the drip return.

Yea I remember that from a week ago or so.. it does sound crappy.

Your on the right track. Get the cold air cranking and you'll see things return to normal

My new compressor came with 5.4 oz of pag46. It looks like the ac compressor for a tacoma calls for 5.6

    Think I’ll be ok ??

That's not a big deal. As long as it's got some oil in there you'll be fine.

Do you have experience charging the system? It's not rocket science but without a set of gauges its easy to over/under fill it and it will do weird stuff, the temp won't get cold, the compressor can work to hard trying to pump an overcharged sysyem.
