Sounds like the discharge hose is leaking then, the dots on the compressor could be spatter or corrosion which will also kinda glow under UV.

Did you also look at the A/C drain?

Actually by the discharge hose comment I was referring to the A/C drain on the passenger side and it did have dye. I had a feeling about the spatter onto the compressor. Currently taking apart the dash... I will tackle the evaporator first and see after I recharge about the compressor.

While TXV's do fail, they rarely leak. Evap is MUCH more likely, as is the o-ring that is in the evap to line connection. Spatter by the compressor could be oil. Most oils will glow under UV light. Put a little dye near the dots and compare. The dye is much brighter than the oil. Freon leaks that take a week to bleed down will not create spatter. Attaching a gauge set to the shrader valves will do this though so if one of the ports is near the compressor that could explain it.

I can't get the crash bar out. What am I missing? I have looked all over and can't find a bolt that is holding it down. I try to move it and it also moves the evaporator/cabin filter box, but can't get the bar out. Any recommendations where to look?

Got her out. It was a clip on the cabin filter case that was holding me back. Oh and I had not fully removed the steering column. Look at the leaks on it.

I would say 4 hours. I could have had it out sooner, but the roadblock of not disengaging the steering column completely and the hidden clip holding the bar to the cabin filter housing. Now just sitting around waiting for Fedex to deliver the parts ordered from Autozone. Should have arrived by 2pm est, now they say 8pm. SMH

I’m surprised how old it looks in the first pic, looks like it came out of a much older truck.

Good morning. Trying to get the steering wheel shaft back into place but can’t get it aligned. Pardon not knowing the name of the universal adapter, but if anyone has some suggestions let me know. Thanks

    Thanks. I did just that.

So i have everything back together. Charging it now but seems I forgot something even though I took my time putting it together. First thing I’m noticing is that the fan is set to high and I hear it inside blowing high, but very little air coming through the vents. Interesting enough, I remove the cabin filter and the air flows just fine though the upper vents.

Also the air direction knob is not working. It’s connected in the back but does not direct air to whichever setting I put it to. Any suggestions?

thanks again all for your help.

My only suggestion is check for blown fuse. Unless it’s mechanical type of function I guess.

Did you plug the actuators all back in?

Sounds like you forgot to plug a servo in or you have the servo linkages in the wrong slots.

Yeah. It’s the servo in wrong slots. Anyone have a diagram of how the servo cover is to go?

Here's the pics I took from when I took my servos off to change the evap in May. I pulled the linkages directly off and left everything in place.

As for a recap for anyone wanting to do this, it can be done but pack your patience and have all the proper tools. My biggest delay was the steering wheel which I had to remove the intermediate shaft completely and snap it back into place. Then the damn servo was a pain to fix as it’s a tight space.

As for the recharge, I have an internal cabin temperature of 50 degree. I read up on this and for the external temperature in sfla, internal temp should be around this. The low side PSI with fan control in second speed was 30 psi. It wouldn’t accept any more Freon even if I tried. First time doing a recharge so I thought it would continue accepting Freon until one stops it. If I’m incorrect in this assumption or if the PSI should be higher, let me know.
Again thank you for all your help.
