It seems like it burnt and the plastic is all melted. Anyone know what could have caused this? Also can someone point me in the right direction in replacing just these prices so that I don’t have to spend $150 on a whole control unit. Thanks so much in advance!

Check the connections at the blower motor resistor and confirm they’re not burnt also. Don’t believe you can just get switch unfortunately.

After I cleaned off the gunk, if I put the metal prices together the air conditioner works fine now. Just don’t want to get a new one for it to get hot and melt again. Did I get unlucky or is there a wiring issue that I should be looking into so that this doesn’t catch fire.

Check the connectors on the resistor unit and the motor connector. If they are a sloppy fit on the terminals they can also get over heated.

Have you had any issues since?
My 2015 is getting really hot back there and I've already changed the blower resistor and checked other connections. Terminals connecting at the back of the ac controller are tight. The heat is really concentrated at the copper on the back of the switch.
