In the past my truck when in gear at a light and the AC compressor kicked in, the truck would lurch ahead enough it would startle you. I posted if anyone else was experiencing this and based off responses, some had it and others claimed they never felt it. and based off what I found the general feeling was there was no actual fix, so I gave up on messing with it and did not waste any time.
I had my frame replaced last week and had Toyota replace the fuel pump when they had the tank out as mine had 300,000kms on it, and I had a new pump (alternator and starter too) anyway.
that was last week, this week it has dawned on me while sitting at a light with the ac on, when the compressor engages I hear a slight noise change but no surge! possible my old pump was at fault, although it never seemed to lack power or any other pump related issues....I might be jumping the gun, but will update as time goes on, so far no surge

I have a similar issue with my first gen, however it was only apparent after I changed the idle air control valve. Knowingly I had gone with the cheaper non-OEM one and I figured it was related to that in my case.

Not related to the pump being replaced.
The battery was disconnected when the frame was replaced. That resets your PCM's fuel adaptions. So, basically the PCM will relearn your driving habits.

If its not surging, you now have a low A/C charge.

The truck is supposed to surge when the A/C pump engages.

The pump turns on and the engine RPMs are supposed to increase to compensate for the drag the pump puts on the engine. If your A/C refrigerant is low, the pump will not turn on. No A/C pump engage, no engine surge and no A/C.

Are you sure you have A/C? The temp of the air out the vents should be around 45*F.

    Hope this makes sense.

My truck surges as well (manual trans). It's only really annoying when in traffic crawling along in first gear. Suddenly the truck will increase RPM and try to send me into the back of the next car. Add in the axle wrap and drivetrain lash and its enough to drive a guy mad. Like being stuck in traffic isn't bad enough right?!

I'm pretty sure HP Tuners has a little box you can uncheck to eliminate the AC surge. I believe the downside is AC performance when traveling very slowly suffers a bit.

Ill have a look and see.
