I have a 09 4x4 Reg cab and with 2 bags of sand in the back it does great in the snow here in Iowa. I do snow removal and drive to the shop on the unplowed roads no problem with the stock dunsucks. Now with my duratracs on order i should kick but.

IMO just add sand, you can always cut open the bag and spread it out.

What actually happens is that it collects in there and freezes...

i though about writing that but unless it dumps in your truck it just isnt worth the effort to shovel it in. plus a dry snow has little weight, u could put a small tub in your bed fill it with the hose and let it freeze. it will melt slow with the sun or stay with the temp. i would stick with sand

yea. I still don't worry about it. I mean, I've got a 4x and don't live in a snow area.. but I used to for decades. I'd drive gm A bodies, toyota celicas (rwd version) and trucks. Never had a problem with any of them. Its just technique I guess.. thinkin ahead. Of course, I didn't own my first automatic till I was like.. 30 so I dont know if the dummied down driving makes it harder.
