hello all, I need some help. the A/C on my 06 Tacoma even on max is hardly blowing air out. it still feels cold but only from 6 inches or so away. after that you can not feel any air flow from it. also I checked the in cabin air filter and it is wet. Any of ideas on what is going on? I know that aint good.

Does the air flow increase with the filter removed? Possible evaporator freezing up or a lot of debris
    plugging evaporator core??

still is the same even with removal of the filter. I also looked under the hood and felt the line running to the a/c and it was freezing cold and was almost dripping wet.

Does the line have frost building up on it? Also was there any recent AC work done on it?
    Possible expansion valve failing

nope A/c has never been working on and no frost just like its sweeting. I had checked the lines right after the A/c was on tho. do you think there could be a hole in the line causing Freon to drip onto the filter and reason the a/c isn't getting as cold. it worked fine yesturday

Probably going to need to find someone with some AC gauges or an
AC machine to hook up to it and see what the pressures are doing.
Not sure why the filter would be wet....when installed where does it
sit in relation to the evaporator?
So if I understand right. Your blower fan is working ok, all speeds?
AC lines not freezing, just condensating... Ac compressor cycling ok?

Is the other underhood line hot? Should be to the point you almost can't touch it. If it's not hot, may be a failed/stuck expansion valve.

Is the problem air flow? So the blower is running? Sometimes these blowers fail on high and work on lower speeds. Possible this is your situation? If yes, research blower resistor repair.

If the blower is working correctly and the evap is iced the sensor that mounts on the evap to prevent icing has failed.

Freon is a gas. Hole in line and it's all gone. No AC at all, compressor won't run due to low pressure sensor shut off.

do you get airflow out of the windshield vents if you change to defrost, or the floor vents by moving the control? If so, your A/C doors may be sticking in the ductwork.

the line running to the A/c is ice cold. all the vents blow air but can only feel it from about 6 inches away and that's all. so what yall think it could be and would it be expensive to fix

at like a low speed air flow I can barely feel it and at a high speed it is some what blowing air. I can feel some coolness but not much. the problem I was worried most about was why is the in cabin air filter wet

The only way the cabin air filter is getting wet is from the air intake under the plastic cowl below the windshield on the passenger side.

You can remove the cowl and remove the cabin air filter. Look into the air inlet from the cowl area and you can see the fan blower. Turn it on high and look at it. You may have a blockage in the fan itself. Maybe a mouse. :)

ok so I open up the hood and look on passenger side for that and take cover off and should be able to see the blower from there once I remove the filter out of the way?

Jimmy, is this 'riser' area 4 sided, or 3. It looks 3 in the pic. In other words, imagine putting a big rubber band over this to position the screening. But it seems the cab side would not allow that. We are in the midst of tropical storm Colin, or I'd just go look. ;)

Had an old Acura once that repeatedly clogged the AC drain. Figured out it was the trees daughter was parking under at school. Placed fiberglass screen all along the bottom of the cowl, no more clogging. Stretched it tight and used hot glue to attach it to the plastic. Worked like a champ.

Thinking of similar on the Tacoma, since it's parking is under a couple of trees as well. Protect both the AC and the cowl drain down to the fenders from packing up with oak leaves every winter..........

    Bill,

You are correct, It is a 3 sided riser.
