Hello, new member here, hope I’m in the right forum. The Ac in my 2013 Tacoma just quit working, it had been working great! Any ideas on what to look for?

If there’s any chance that your recently severed your spinal cord, I’d make sure it’s not a neurological issue first. See if you can feel the difference between hot and cold in both hands.

Actually, My spinal cord is damaged, but no problems telling the difference between hot and cold.

If the compressor is running when the A/C is on, but not blowing cold, sounds like a loss of refrigerant, perhaps a blown line or the like...

I had the same thing happen this past summer: AC on full blast, re-circ on, set to the coldest setting and all I got was warm air. Took it into Toyota and they ran a test and found a pin-hole leak in my condenser, which leaked refrigerant. They didn't have the part, so the temporary fix was to recharge the AC system. It actually held up for a little under two months until they were able to replace the condenser. Cost for a condenser replacement (from my dealership) was $711 for reference.

    OP, I'm jealous...

I've had my 2010 Tacoma since it was new. We purchase it in September 2009, and the A/C never had a problem until 2017. In June 2017, with about 75K on the clock, I noticed that my A/C blew ice cold out of the driver's side (both left vents) and kinda cool out of the center right vent, but humid outside air from the far right vent.

I brought my truck to my mechanic and he determined that charge was low but could not find a leak when he pressure-tested the system. He charged it, and it lasted the rest of the summer, though the far right vent still didn't blow as cold as I would have liked.

Fast-forward to April 2018. During a drive to a car show in Jersey on an unseasonably warm day, my girlfriend and I noticed that the far right vent was once again blowing warm. The vents on the left were the coldest. I brought it to my mechanic again, and he charged it but couldn't find a leak. I was still not satisfied with the performance of my A/C, but I rarely had passengers so I just dealt with. The A/C worked well enough to get me through a weekend heat wave at the Carlisle Truck Nationals, and at that point the problem had been misdiagnosed as a servo door actuator or some shit. I ordered this part and it arrived the Monday after I got back from Carlisle. I installed it and noticed no improvement. If anything, it got worse.

At this point, the A/C was blowing super-cold out of the far left vent, cool out of the center left vent, and warm out of the two right vents.

I drove it to the dealer and told them I didn't want the truck back until my A/C was blowing cold across all four vents. The next morning, I got a call from the dealer, and was told that my truck was about a pound low on refrigerant. I gave the okay to completely evacuate the system and recharge it. They also added dye so they'd be able to find the leak. When I got my truck back, the A/C was blowing colder than it had in about two years.

I brought the truck back to the dealer about three weeks later so they could search for the leak, and it ended up being a worst case scenario...

The UV dye showed that the evaporator core was leaking, and as a result both the evaporator core and the expansion valve would have to be replaced. This unfortunately required the removal of the dashboard, and the cost of parts and labor would amount to almost $1,600! I did not have this kind of money at the time, but luckily my dad helped me out. My Tacoma went to the dealer for two days to get the parts replaced, and so far so good. Pennsylvania is in the middle of a deep-freeze and I will have to wait until probably March or April to see the system held a charge. Luckily, my dealer covers parts and labor for an additional year on top of the Toyota warranty, so I'm good until September 2020!

I had the same issue this summer and recharged it with new refrigerant and sealant. Worked all summer. Hope it doesn't leak.

I have had to remove a heater core in an old thunderbird. Took me two 12 hour days to remove driver seat, steering column, dash and old core needed cut out.

    Never again!

Mine did something similar. Driving it in the summer and everything was working fine- about a 45 minute drive. After I got done with my errand headed home and absolutely no cold air! I was totally stressed about it all the way home. The next day drove it and was blowing cold again and hasn’t had an issue since? I don’t know crap about how ac works but wondering if there was an orifice that somehow got obstructed and then cleared itself up somehow? My dodge will hold a charge for about. 1.25-1.5 years and then the ac starts to die. The next recharge I may have them add dye but I’m afraid it would be the condenser and that’s a big job and at that point might as well replace the heater core too. Neither of the trucks are driven daily so it not a huge deal but there’s just that few weeks in the summer where I really want it working good.

About 3 weeks ago the A/C in my 2007 started blowing warmer and warmer with a slight mist coming out only the driver side vent. I have owned this truck for about four years and all the sudden this happens. I'm going to recharge and see how long it holds. Have you turned your a/c on and looked under the hood to see if your a/c compressor is engaging? It might be something simple. There are also some great PDF wiring diagrams to help diagnose these issues. I'll post the link if i can find it again but I saved the files if you need them I can send em your way.

The a/c stopped working suddenly in mine when it overheated.
