Ac knob inserts ?

Knob fell off and that little insert that keeps it in place fell out and after looking high and low I couldn’t find it. Any remedies to this or where can I pick one up? (Tab not the knob)

 

Toyota sells the entire knob...

 

I don’t remember how think it is but you can trying just cuting out a peice of cardboard or plastic with tape and wedging it in there. To last you till you get a new knob

 

Use a small piece of electrical tape.

 

If I order a new knob does it come with the insert?

 

I have the knob. I just need the little metal piece that slides onto the ac control tab thingamajigee

Quality is better than stock by far.

 

They work on 1st gens?

 

My buddy has them on his 1st gen. Idk if he had to do modifications. But I can ask and get back with you tomorrow. They are built way better than OEM. Have a more rugged feel as well

Also if they aren’t compatible, finding a new little metal ring is going to be near impossible unless you make your own. Probably be less of a hassle to just get a whole new knob from Toyota or this

I would think so. Dealerships usually have pretty detailed schematics that will help you narrow down what you need

 

I lost the metal insert one time. I couldn’t find one. I had to order new knob, yes new knnobs come with metal insert.

 

I always check for those little things at the salvage yard. People will take the knobs not realizing that they left the insert. They don’t even charge me for them. I have a few packed away somewhere...just not sure where that is at the moment. Before you ask, I’m not interested in selling. Lol

 

Maybe the insert is still on the shaft. Pushed down further?

 

Thanks, I’ll check that out. I think the plastic has a spot where the little metal insert cannot go any further but I’ll check. I searched everywhere and to no avail but further down the shaft is one place I did not check

 

did you try electrical tape yet?

 

Negative, I’m currently in port working on ship and can’t get to my truck right now. I will try it this weekend and let y’all now how it works out
