Probably a destroyed A/C compressor clutch. There's an aftermarket replacement available on eBay for less. Check out the front of the compressor and search for a thread on here with the details about the aftermarket clutch.

    None...yet.
Probably obvious, but did you check refrigerant pressure? I think if it's low, the system won't allow compressor to run, resulting in the blinking light. But a separated clutch hub, replacement is about $50 on eBay, is the usual culprit. My issue was the magnetic coil that engages the AC clutch, it also caused the blinking light.

The blinking light comes from the rotation sensor on the compressor. All it means is that the clutch was commanded to engage, but the rotation sensor did not sense proper rotation. It disengages the clutch and blinks the AC Lamp to let you know there is an issue. If the coolant pressure is low the system will never come on and the light will not blink. Or if the pressure is on the edge it may come on for a brief time then kick off, but the lamp still will not blink.
