AC on/off clicking sound in dash

I have an issue where my ac intermittently blows cold (and im not talking an issue with the fan). I usually fix it by turning on/off repeatedly and sometimes it works sometimes not...but when it IS on it goes in and out of actually cooling accompanied by a clicking sound in the dash that sounds like a relay or something... Sometimes at a stop it clicks on and off over and over. Im thinking theres a short or a bad switch/relay..loose wire....what do yall think? Any help is greatly appreciated especially with the Texas summer just about here.

 

Maybe the ac button plug loose. That pulls out real easy, maybe start there.

 

Your first instinct?,,go with it. A/C relay underhood, in the fuse/relay box.

 

Thanks for the replies. Not the plug I checked that and the relay under the hood. .is there a way to check relays? And the sound seems to come from the center of the dash if that helps
