I like my extended cab, its what I was looking for too because I don't really like carrying around a lot of people in my truck, like the "longer" bed for 4 wheelers and stuff on the farm, Usually don't drive around wasting my gas because me and my friends usually take whoevers car/truck is biggest, and going from a single cab the extended cab is 3000000000x better and I cant complain there but if I do get a double cab I will probably enjoy it better, but for now I don't want a dc unless I get a killer deal I cant pass up.

My wife and I lay in the bed of ours and look at the stars on nice nights. Out of curiosity, can't you take down the tailgate? Improves airflow, and opens up more space. Not saying you should need to. I'm just pointing out that, as I was saying, an extra foot of bed doesn't make THAT much difference. You can work around it easily.

You use the truck bed for tanning...

No judgement, it just feels so strange to read that.

So we still have extra cause we have a tailgate too so it also increases the length of the bed.

True but I like the privacy. And sometimes people don't know I'm in there.

Hey at least I don't use it as a cool down tub like some of the college kids I know LOL!!

could any point me in the direction of specs on the wheelbase and bed length comparisons of an AC vs DC? Think I get the jist of it from the posts in this thread, but just wanna make sure, AC has a medium wheelbase with a 6ft bed (longest offered), while DC has option for short bed (med wheelbase) and long bed (long wheelbase)? Long bed is bad for offroading im guessing? THX

Got an RC and wish it was an AC.
I have no use for a DC.

AC and the DCSB have the same wheelbase.
127.4in vs 140.6in for the DCLB

$26k for a base model DCLB.

I'd buy an access cab Tundra before spending that much on a Tacoma.

RC and no complaints..my old truck, a Chevy, was the same.

No kids so it's either just me or me and my wife. If I go out and need more room I take her Rav4.

Tundra DC has more cab room and a bigger bed than the DCLB Tacoma.
The current AC is almost as big in the back seat as the 1st Gen Tundra DC.
    The Crewmax is freaking cavernous.

Comparably equipped, Tundra DC is only about 1k more than the Tacoma, and that's with the 4.6l V8.

I've been pretty happy with the AC. When I bought it I didn't (and don't yet) need the interior room that comes with a DC. Usually just me the gf and maybe the dog. If we need to seat more than two we take her car. I like having the 6 foot bed because like others have said it lets me haul more stuff than the 5 foot bed. If I end up needing a truck with more interior room it will be a toss up between a DCLB and a fullsize.

If I ever have the need to go full size, I'll go Tundra for the V8 too. But luckily, I really don't have a need yet.
