Have you checked the condenser behind the grille for the leak? It is not uncommon for rocks or road debris to damage it and cause a coolant leak . It is a lot more common than you would think . The pag compressor oil has a dye in it and it can be picked up easily with a blacklight or cheap blacklight flash light . About 5$ on Amazon.

oops a touch late to the party

Good call on checking that. If it leaks down again that's my next step. I have some dye and I'll put that in. I never off road the vehicle and its driven in pretty good conditions, but you have a really good point about the condenser. Its pretty exposed.

My ‘13 A/C is startin’ to go. Was in denial for a bit but I’m not gonna lie. Thinkin’ it’s likely the Evap. Coil by the way guys are sayin’. Good News is I can do all the work myself. It’s my bread ‘n butter. Gotta admit tho. Parts quality & system design certainly play a role here. Throw the dreaded 134a into the mix & I can’t see why the system wouldn’t fail. There’s a ‘78 Merc. in my driveway right now. R12 system. Blows pure ice & has never been touched. Sure, leak detection with dye is an easy way to go but I remember when certain compressor manufacturers wouldn’t warranty if there was dye present & how do you get it out once it’s dispensed? My money would be hunt with a sniffer first. Look for tell tale signs like oil stains. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the feedback, there is no warranty so its what I can do to limp it. If it eats a can a year thats fine.
