I have a 2012 quad cab that came loaded from the factory but Toyota just doesn't offer some of the amenities I was looking for on the Tacoma. Has anyone tried to swap the AC system with one that has climate control? Maybe a unit out of a 4 runner or a Tundra? How invasive is it? Do you have to replace ducting or is it just swapping out the head unit and running power to it? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What is that your trying to get. The functionality of AC in 4runner or Tacoma is the same. The difference is in the controls (4runners or more luxury cars) have more automated system.
If thats what what you looking for than you have tons of swapping to do, including sensors and computer controlling it, not to mention the dashboard controls.

I'm looking for the more automated controls that I've seen in the Tundra and might also be in the 4 Runner. I'm aware of the digital screens involved, my biggest question is if the different unit can be plugged into the existing ducting and dashboard. If not it becomes a much more complicated and expensive custom build. The rest can be worked out without too much difficulty, I was just trying to see if anyone has any firsthand experience in doing this.
