On the way home I flipped the ac on and waited...... And waited...... For ambient air?
The fan works at all speeds, just blowing warm air.
    DA fuq?

Now, the rpm raises and the truck lurches from a stop when I select the ac and turn it on...... Like its running, but never gets cold.
No belt issues known..... Any idea what to check before I take it in?

I imagine ur gunna say fuses...... Couldn't the surging rpm and lurch from a stop indicate the compressor running?

2006 taco, 80K never had ac service or problems before this.

    Thanks :)

If the compressor is spinning then you are looking at either the compressor internals went bad, the "Freon" is low or maybe its as simple as the inside vent doors that open and close when you adjust the temp knob are broken. Thats the cheaper fix.

    Check your cabin air filter.

Feel the return hose/pipe for the AC (it's the larger one) and see if it's cold if so you got a door problem.

I had the same issue, engine would rev up and down almost as if it wanted to turn off, squealing noise would sometimes be present, last but not least the light on the ac button sometimes would stay blinking. Unfortunately this happened to me twice!!! Once at about 70k and again at 110k. Compressor was locking up on both occasions.

I hope that's not the case with you because it was expensive to replace the entire ac system.

Had compressor lockup in my previous car. Ended up sending metal shavings through the lines and ruined my condenser, too. At that point I had to replace the entire system.

Hopefully that's not your case, or at the very least that you catch it when it's just ONE component.

Check your ac switch. Might be able to find someone around town that would switch out with you to see if that's the problem
